It's score is on par with the Avengers when it is much worse. Then again, crap like Iron Man 3 and TDKR have green scores on MC. TDKR has 78. Such Nolan worship.

These previews have always counted for OD recently. The only ones I can think of in recent memory that didn't count is Man of Steel's Walmart screenings and like, the first Iron Man?

Not really. I love The First Avenger and The Incredible Hulk. I realised this trend with Age of Ultron because the gimmick of pulling them all together is gone, all that remains is mass destruction. That will happen every damn time. Civil War will just be two movies of destructo-porn, just like the last two.

I doubt it will increase that much. Because of meh reviews its not gonna pull in casual audience. At best its opening to 215m. But I am with excel that its gonna crash after OW. I am predicting sub IM3 multiplier as this one will have lot bigger previews( > 2x) and will have worse reception.

Disney knows how to work the marketing machine to pull in their audience. The quality of the film is not as big a factor as many here are making it out to be. And it's not like the reviews are terrible, they are actually good, just not great. Reviews line up with Iron Man 2 and Thor 2. Audiences will eat this up. Not to the extent of the first Avengers film, but it's ridiculous to think this film will crash.

Some people here seem to have a hard-on for predicting the end of the box-office world as we know it. Looks like I'm going to have fun here.

Presales exceeding all of the previous Marvel films combined seems like a huge deal to me. I'm still not feeling $250m+ but can't say I'd be shocked if it happened. It won't have a weekend IM below 2.4 but an OD over $100m still seems unreachable at this point.

At what point will we be able to start coming up with an estimate for the weekend? I can't imagine the midnight/preview numbers tomorrow morning are enough data will be enough to extrapolate.

We can get a good idea with the preview numbers.

Probably not until mid afternoon Friday when Deadline, Variety, etc. starts projecting a range for the day. I agree the preview numbers provide a difficult extrapolation, especially since the previews are starting at 7pm this time around. Preview numbers will be a good starting point, though. I'm excited to see them tomorrow.

I would think we need at least $20 mil for the late night shows. Probably closer to $25 mil for a shot at beating the record.
