I would question RT's grading system. While critics aren't as critical as we think of blockbusters, they still have a general disdain for them and will never wholly recommend one. Most praise them in a belittling manner and/or only speak of them within their particular niche ("the best in big dumb action" etc.).

I still haven't lost faith.

Not feeling so confident about this. Only thing giving me hope was the Fandango report from weeks ago. I could see $190m or being blown away by $250m.

I keep reminding myself that the first movie didn't blow up until the last minute, so for now I'll keep my expectations in check. The opening will be BIG no matter what, but judging by some of the reactions I've seen it sounds like it won't be the WOM monster A1 was. It's going to be really interesting to see the legs on this one after OW.

Prob 2.5-2.7. It doesn't face nearly the competition IM3 faced, which had worse WOM and ended up with 2.3X. To match the original (it won't) it will need at least 230 OW, which won't happen.

However RT, I don't see this opening below 190 million.

I am thinking 210 for now which would be huge with a diminish 3d share.

Wonder know how people would react if this makes barely more than IM3 OW, that would be a shocker , it's not happening though

Somebody on BOT brought up an interesting point about how Marvel spoiling us with all this news on CA/IW and the addition of Spider-Man is lessening the hype for this movie, which I can actually agree with to an extent. I mean when you really think about it most of the major news in the past months has been all about the studio's future projects and it seems like the most exciting element of AOU is how it leads into Civil War.

It's like people are way more amped about a possible 5-10 minute cameo than anything else in this movie, and as sad as that is I can only blame Marvel because they revealed so fucking much too early.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to Civil War more than this film too. AOU does seem like its a necessary middle film just to keep the MCU chugging along. Will still be huge though.

Can't you see what is happening? These Avengers movies are just becoming like Transformers movies. Mass destruction. Nothing separating them as unique.

Avengers movies are being well reviewed, and they have superheroes which is awesome in itself, and some of them have great back stories, which no "bot" seems to have...

2nd weekend drop off wont be too big as like Im3 TA, the 2nd Saturday will be gigantic.
