Re: Star Wars Breaks All The Records Club
$500m is a lock as is the #1 December OW record. I think Avatar's DOM/WW records are safe.

Not sure about records but I can see a four quad hit unlike any other for this film.

Re: Star Wars Breaks All The Records Club
It has a shitload going for it.
1. First STAR WARS sequel in over 30 years 2. Looks great 3. Will attract fans of both the OT and PT (in other words - multi-generational) 4. It's not directed by Lucas and JJ's track record with Trek is good. Reviews should be on the positive side. 5. December release date (~Titanic, Avatar, LOTR) 6. Original cast is back - nostalgia factor 7. Looks like it has a female protagonist which will help win over the female demo
It will break a bunch of records that's for sure.

MadGez wrote: 1. First STAR WARS sequel in over 30 years lol I don't think people care if it's technically a sequel or a prequel or a reboot or a spin-off, the Star Wars brand was last seen on the big screen in 2005, so that's not really a positive. Plus, if you want to get anal, as a negative; it's the first Star Wars sequel in over 30 years but it isn't directed by George Lucas. Traditionalists will dislike that aspect. MadGez wrote: 3. Original cast is back - nostalgia factor This could also be a negative. They look old and desperate, and people will just like to mock them. MadGez wrote: 7. Re: Star Wars Breaks All The Records Club
it sure is the most over predicted film since Wall-E at KJ. I dont think Prequels have aged well and while SW has a rabid fan base I am not sure GA will be that excited. It wont come close to Phantom Menace level of anticipation.
That said with the release date and rabid fan base it will break december OW record comfortably. Also I am expecting it to be among the most frontloaded blockbusters to be released in December. May be be the highest unadjusted SW film(I am not too sure but its possible). Nothing beyond that. Definitely not breaking overall OW record in December and is not coming close to Avatar.
