live-action Mulan announced
well this is certainly more welcome than a live-action Dumbo. Hopefully they cast someone good and not just go for freaking Jamie Chung. (I know she was Mulan in OUAT but who knows with Hollywood..)

Jamie Chung?
Cast her because, you know, she's like, the only Oriental Asian on Earth. Seriously, I checked.
Or don't because, you know, she's like an Oriental Asian. I'm thinking more along the lines of Jennifer Lawrence or let's be edgy and cast Shaliene Woodley even though Divergent hasn't really taken off.

Whomever they will cast, it will make less domestically than Cinderella.

Nothing screams we are afraid of making original films more than Disney right about now.

I think these Disney live action remakes are on the way down to Earth.
The Jungle Book- 60/180 Through The Looking Glass- 70/210 Beauty and the Beast- 50/150 (Live action musicals seem to have a modern ceiling of 150 million, though this does seem to have the best chance of stopping the downward spiral.) Mulan- 44/132

Eh they have three bid budget original films this year which is more than most studios. But yeah they're plans after this year are very sequel/remake dependent.
Tomorrowland and??
Pixar doesn't count. "Ant Man" definitely does not count.

Why on Earth does Pixar not count, though?

Inside Out should count. But Tomorrowland and Ant Man should not as both are based off of existing properties.

Re: live-action Mulan announced
In a way you're right Algren. Although the story for Tomorrow is more original than adapted, the name Tomorrowland is an already established name. No doubt some will come because of they'll have remembered riding the rides at Disneyland or Disney World as a kid. However little to non of the actual story will have existed before the film. This movie merely draws inspiration not a direct story from Tomorrowland because outside of some incoherent lore, Tomorrowland does not tell a linear story.
And Pixar counts if Marvel counts, but then neither really produce original features anymore. Of course this is expected of the latter.

How is Inside Out not an original feature?

Ming-Na should be in this in some sort of capacity. I love Mulan and am actually very excited for this.

Besides Inside Out and the Good Dinosaur, Pixar has more sequels announced in its future than ever before in its history.

Sequels: Monsters University Toy Story 2 Toy Story 3 Cars 2 Finding Dory Toy Story 4
Non-Sequels: Toy Story Monster's, Inc. Finding Nemo The Incredibles WALL-E Inside Out Cars A Bug's Life Up Brave Ratatouille A Good Dinosaur
66% original, 33% unoriginal content.
That's how Pixar sees it, and it's fair to see it like that.

Yeah, I know what you said. I wasn't just replying to your post. I was replying to the generally accepted notion that Pixar are now a talentless sequel provider. So I was just seeing how it all weighs up. Looking at it, they're still fairly creative.

Re: live-action Mulan announced
Mulan is one of my all-time favorite Disney movies. Not sure how I feel about Disney just going through their back catalogue and making live action versions of their animated films, but what do I know?
All I know is that it BETTER have this song in it or I'll rage:
