Okay guys, I want to compile a members top 100 list of the best of the best forign films. So, be picky, only suggest which films you think are A+ worthy, and they don't go onto the list until at least one second member concurs. Then they make the cut and go on the list.

Matatonio...why the hell does everyone love Crimen del Padre Amaro. Its hillarious, but not particularly good IMO, I'm in the minority, I think Rod and Torrino both said they liked it too.

An aside, I'll put it up of course, but everything I heard about Apres los Ojos (Open Your Eyes) was terrible. I worked at a video store then and no one liked it. What did you guys think was so special about it? I'm asking without having seen it myself, I just want to know if I should.

That video store you worked at must have been full of TEH crack smokers, Galia. It's one of the most original and mind bending films i've ever seen. It manages to be a sci-fi romantic film noir and still be good.

In simple terms...It's everything Vanilla Sky was not. And more.

All I'd heard about it was that it used the same technical approach to breaking the plane between audience and character perception that 8 1/2 did a good 40 years earlier. Okay though, I'll try to keep my mind open and check it out.

Well. I didn't see 8 1/2. So, if 8 1/2 used a groundbreaking technical approach, the director of Open Your Eyes did a pretty damn good job

And, unless the director publicly criticized Fellini, what's wrong with using the style? If anything, it further establishes and emphasizes Fellini's (and Italian film in general) influence today.

Actually, it's a bit of the three. I'd say it's more of a documentary (with foreign flavor) that was clearly produced without the MAJOR support of a studio. You've got my support on this one. Now, pick Spinal Tap, Best in Show, and Waiting for Guffman!
