Unfinished Business Predictions
20th Century Fox will release this R-rated comedy on March 6th, the same day as the Hugh Jackman-led science-fiction film Chappie from Sony.
It reunites Vince Vaughn with Delivery Man director Ken Scott and features Dave Franco's first major role after his scene-stealing turn in Neighbors.
Predictions? Could this be at least partly be a return to box-office form for Vaughn?
I say yes. 18/63

The light marketing thusfar hasn't generated a blip online and time is running out to push this. A pathetic 8K FB likes and 250 tweets a day is all it can muster. I don't think it looks very good, either, with Chappie being the prime pick that weekend. Used to really like Vaughn but don't see this doing well. $10m/$28m.
I'm not sure if Vaughn doesn't care where his paycheck comes from or perhaps his agent sucks, but he's seem to have lost something in recent years. It's a shame since he has the ability to be quite funny. Wedding Crashers and The Break Up are among my favorites but nothing has seemed to reach those levels of late. Perhaps he works better with an equally-paired co-star.

This looks awful. Why is Tom Wilkinson even in this?

Tom Wilkinson has to eat, and they needed a respectable British character actor to put in Hilariously Naughty situations, but Michael Caine and Ben Kingsley were busy.

This looks like a major flop, although I don't think it looks that bad.
I think this actually looks entertaining, but mainstream audiences don't seem to care about Vaughn anymore and Dave Franco is not a draw by himself. Best case scenario I see for it is The Watch numbers which had a much stronger cast and better marketing. This movie won't even have the benefit of summer weekdays helping it's legs like that movie either.
I'll say 10/27.

$50m. A middling but solid gross for something like this. I guess Im still yet to be convinced Chappie will be a breakout hit and this may benefit from that.

This looks awful. Vaughn's career has been terribly mismanaged after Wedding Crashers shot him to new levels of fame. His only hits since have been The Break-Up, Four Christmases and Couples Retreat (with the latter two being completely forgotten in the public consciousness). The string of shit that is Dilemma/Watch/Internship/Delivery Man completely erased any goodwill he once held with audiences. I would love to see him undergo a McConaughey-like rebrand and leave these generic money grabs behind him.
He needs a critically acclaimed TV show to star in.

Agreed.
I would add Fred Claus to the list of hits, too. Coincidentally, the "hits" since Wedding Crashers are his only good films since.

Wow, Vaughn hasn't had a film gross $100m worldwide since 2009!
I don't think Unfinished Business will buck that trend.

Re: Unfinished Business Predictions
This opens next weekend and I had no clue what it was until I just looked up the trailer. Doesn't look great. I don't really see it being a big hit. I could see an opening anywhere from 8-11 Million. Probably a Delivery Man opening.
I bet Tom Wilkinson wishes he could have been back for The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel instead, which also opens this weekend.

weird so many of you are saying you don't know what it is, I've seen the trailer several times in theaters and spots on TV all the time.

Re: Unfinished Business Predictions
The title doesn't really make you think of a boozy business trip. It sounds more like a revenge film.

Yeah a wacky revenge film starring Bette Midler and Steven Segal.

I've actually seen a number of those.
1. Delivery Man (sweet little flick) 2. Fred Claus (mentioned by Algren) 3. ...well actually I don't really like anything else (Wedding Crashers, The Break Up, Couples Retreat)
and Unfinished Business, Dilemma, Watch and Internship looked like such awful movies I never bothered.
I actually own Four Christmases, because it's a Christmas movie, so I might watch that sometime.
