It was a fantastic lineup. Simmons is a richly deserving winner, though I voted for Ruffalo myself.

Simmons' win was by a landslide. He got 64% of all votes.

Something's wrong if Interstellar doesn't win.

I would choose Under the Skin or Whiplash here myself, but obviously every film is deserving in its own way.

Re: 11th Annual WOKJ Motion Picture Awards WINNERS LIVE CERE
Best foreign-language film Force Majeure (Sweden) Set at a ski resort, this drama charts a period of domestic strife set in motion by a father and husband's act of cowardice during a brief crisis. With laser-beam clarity and a touch of droll humor, director Ruben Östlund's film closely examines bourgeois gender politics and related expectations. Ida (Poland) An uncomfortable chapter in Polish history is revisited in this grim coming-of-age drama, directed by Pawel Pawlikowski with an elegant austerity reminiscent of Ingmar Bergman and Robert Bresson. The story turns on a orphaned teenage girl on the verge of becoming a nun who visits her estranged aunt and learns she is Jewish by birth. The Raid 2 (Indonesia) Director Gareth Huw Evans stages even more elaborate and exciting sequences of bone-crushing, head-stomping martial-arts action in this dramatic action sequel, which finds one of the few survivors of the first film going undercover to disrupt a nefarious crime syndicate. It is Enter the Dragon by way of The Departed. The Tale of the Princess Kaguya (Japan) The first animated feature in over a decade by director Isao Takahata, the 79-year-old Studio Ghibli mainstay, this film tells the magical story of a woodsman who discovers a mysterious child within a radiant bamboo flower and raises her alongside his wife. Two Days, One Night (Belgium) Known for their fastidious eye for quotidian detail and their vast empathy for those on society's lowest rungs, sibling directors Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne here cast Marion Cotillard as a desperate woman traveling around town to meet with her colleagues. Her goal is to convince them to forego their bonuses so she can remain on the factory payroll. And the award for best foreign-language film goes to:

This one will be interesting. Mostly because I've only seen one of them.

I only saw The Raid 2, but this is the first time ever where I wanted to see every film on the foreign list. They all look great.

Damn. I'm sure it's good but Force Majeure was so very good.

I think The Raid 2 was a winner per default. I doubt even half of the voters saw more than that one film.

Re: 11th Annual WOKJ Motion Picture Awards WINNERS LIVE CERE
Best documentary Directed by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, 20,000 Days on Earth is a stylized documentary blending fact and fantasy to explore the creative mind of Nick Cave, the fiery, thorny Australian performer and songwriter who has led the influential alternative band the Bad Seeds for 30 years. Directed by Laura Poitras, Citizenfour is an in-the-moment, suspenseful documentary focused on Edward Snowden, the computer expert and National Security Agency contractor who fled the United States after revealing thousands of secret documents pertaining to government surveillance, an act celebrated by many as heroic and derided by others as traitorous. Directed by John Maloof and Charlie Siskel, Finding Vivian Maier tells the poignant story of a solitary and troubled woman who quietly lived as an itinerant child-care provider. Only after her death did historian and art collector Maloof discover she was a fabulous and prolific street photographer; unheralded and mostly unprinted during her life, her photographs are now exhibited and sold around the globe. The life, career, and worldview of the late Roger Ebert, the most iconic American film critic both in print and on television, are documented in Life Itself, a heartfelt ode by director Steve James, whose Hoop Dreams was strongly championed by Ebert in 1994. Directed by Jillian Schlesinger and largely shot by its subject, Maidentrip charts highly determined 14-year-old Laura Dekker's 27,000-mile sailing trip around the world, highlighting her developing sense of independence and self, as well as her brief stays in various exotic locales. And the award for best documentary goes to:
