 2015: "Review-Proof" Films
Rolling Thunder made a comment about The Boy Next Door being "Review-Proof", so I wondered how many movies are actually review proof that are coming out in 2015. By "Review-Proof", I guess it means that no matter how good or bad the reviews are, the film will still bomb or be successful - the reviews have no influence on the box office either way.
I'd also be interested in what past films share this unique ability. I mean, did Iron Man 3, for example, have this? Would it have been able to make $400m if the reviews were TERRIBLE? Or does it only apply to films such as The Boy Next Door where nobody gives a shit about it anyway, so poor reviews are not going to make people give LESS of a shit?

 Re: 2015: "Review-Proof" Films
Depends on the parameters.
Both Avengers and Star Wars are going to gross $250m even if they had 0% on RT, but if they had 100% then they would make a lot more, so would they count?
Fast Seven is definitely critic proof. Cinderella too given the track record of Disney live action so far. Jupiter Ascending is guaranteed to bomb everywhere. I assume everyone is gonna see the final Hunger Games. And then you have your horror films, PA, F13 etc.

BK nailed it. Avengers 2, SW7, THG2, Fast Seven, Cinderella plus horror films regardless of their BO are review-proof.

I don't know how bad Jupiter Ascending will bomb. It has had very aggressive, fairly decent marketing lately. I think it will minimum manage Dracula Untold OW and could go as high as something like John Carter or Prince of Persia. Which would still make it a bomb, just not one of the worst bombs ever.

 Re: 2015: "Review-Proof" Films
Barely any movie is really review-proof. Obviously films like Furious 7 or Mockingjay Part II won't depend much on reviews, but if the RT score is below 10%, they also will suffer.

 Re: 2015: "Review-Proof" Films
I don't think a 0% on RT will hurt Fast 7 from doing $200 m +. The film that re-vitalized the franchise (Fast 4) was at 27%. I just don't think critical reviews matter much for this franchise.

The female Ghostbusters film, is that review proof? Will it, as Mister Ecks suggests, make $100m even with 0% on Rotten Tomatoes?
