It doesn't really change that much. It is still a big production not like it was reduced to $100m.

Great for Top Five.

The name's Expensive. Very Expensive.

The no-script bit is scary. Reminds me of Quantum of Solace.

James Bond is not going to have a lame-ass three-carriage train fight. ;)

No. Just a direct reference to the point in the article in which the MGM executive and Barbara Broccoli feud over how many carriages to use in a train fight in Spectre, with him arguing for a more cost-friendly three.

Right, sorry. I didn't read the entire article. I cannot believe Skyfall was $250m. It seemed like a lower-key Bond than, say, Quantum of Solace or Die Another Day. I mean, the last 45 minutes or so is shot in an old house in the Scottish Highlands.

Apparently Focus has a budget of $100m?

What the hell.

It looks like it should be budgeted at like $35m or less. That's what I got from the trailer. Some small scale thriller.

Maybe I've forgotten it already but why on Earth is it using $100m. Will Smith wanted $50m to do it? lol

mid-300's is HUGE. I still don't understand how they are shooting without a script and how it could have gone over-budget when they would have just shot the action scenes but regardless that's just HUGE.

Also I didn't realize that Skyfall was $250m budget movie :noway:

Blackhat will struggle to make a profit unless it gets a Chinese release, which it should do since it has two Asians in the cast.

Didn't expect a bigger budget for Blackhat. The other three are good budgets but I thought AS looked cheaper like a $20m-$30m movie.

Even if Mortdecai opens to 20 million, it will be a disappointment.

It won't be. It mnight be a financial flop, but relative to super-low expectations, a $20 million opening would mean a mini-surprise.

lol J-Lo's cookies ain't worth much.

And lol at Mortdecai too. As if the marketing campaign wasn't already a sham, they actually spent $60m on this? Wow.

What about Strange Magic? Would want to laugh at Lucas passion project bombing.

Anyone seen this before?

Pretty cool if they track weekly.

January 13th 2015

1. American Sniper $10.7m ($43.8m)
2. Blackhat $7.4m ($20.4m)
3. Inherent Vice $5.9m ($15.3m)
4. Wedding Ringer $5.9m ($20.6m)
5. Selma $5.4m ($15.5m)

Estimated spend for lifetime of ads

20th January

1. Jupiter Ascending $10.3 ($15m)
2. American Sniper $8.8m ($53.8m)
3. Boy Next Door $6.3m ($14.9m)
4. Strange Magic $5.5m ($15.3m)
5. The Loft $5.4m ($8.3m)

Why the hell do they spend so much? Blackhat spent more on TV marketing than it will take total. That's fucking sad.

Also, it's cool AS is making bank, but look at that number! That's more than 60% of the weekend number.

One would really ask if it is all worth it?

whoa, very interesting #'s. The money WB is losing from Inherent Vice though, lol. Anderson's fanbase that watched it didn't because of the commercials.
