Re: Untitled STAR WARS SPIN-OFF Predictions December 16th 20
It will be interesting to see if this or Moana wins holiday 2016. Fantastic Beasts and the Wicked movie(if it gets released Christmas 2016) also have huge potential.

Having said that, if SW7 is a 500m+ grosser with great WOM, then the floor for this is 300m. ^ This Jack Sparrow wrote: Why do they need this in the first place? With the title Rogue, it makes me think it will have something to do with bounty hunters.

So this will come out 1 year after EP7 and only 6 months before EP8.
I'm surprised Disney is smashing through these films so quickly.

Re: STAR WARS : ROGUE ONE Predictions December 16th 2016
lol. I think it's a real damning state of the world that we have the need to make spin offs of Star Wars about stealing plans for the Death Star. So now plot points in a movie are their own movies.
This whole Avengers thing was terrible for the industry. Or maybe just the superheroes and Disney owned shit.
Anyway, you all have fun, but another movie I'm keen to simply avoid.

It's a good title. Sounds super cool and gets away from the constraints of the "Episode #" subtitles.

Re: STAR WARS : ROGUE ONE Predictions December 16th 2016
I don't think this will fall astronomically from Ep VII. The Star Wars fans will def be there, and casual audiences won't care either that it's not an episode. They probably won't even tell the difference. 500 million is assured, IMO, and it could go even higher.

Re: STAR WARS : ROGUE ONE Predictions December 16th 2016
If Han Solo/Luke/Leia aren't in this one, that's going to make a difference. That was part of the allure of this movie. It was the first time they all re-united in 35 years for a SW movie!
$500 m isn't a given. I can see $300 m + but it will be harder pressed to be a direct sequel. The buzz on SW Ep. 7 is way too hard to compare it to.

Re: STAR WARS : ROGUE ONE Predictions December 16th 2016
This looks to have no connection with the core series besides brand name, so I wouldn't even say $300M is a given. Unless the marketing is really good I doubt mainstream audiences will be that interested, but it's hard to say this far out and with no trailer.

There will also be no rush factor or hype factor here outside of diehards.
This'll be very dependent on the trailer and reviews for its opening & its legs.

Re: STAR WARS : ROGUE ONE Predictions December 16th 2016
There are tons of Star Wars die hards. Like a lot. I don't think a single die hard fan that saw Ep VII will skip this one. That should be enough hype to get a lot of the general audience interested as well, as has been shown with this one.

Re: STAR WARS : ROGUE ONE Predictions December 16th 2016
I really dislike the idea that this and the other spin-offs are basically prequels. Like we haven't gotten enough prequels in this franchise already, but this just feels like a unnecessary cash grab. Even if they manage to put Vader in it we already saw enough of him in the OT, so why are we going backwards instead of forward ? A Boba Fett movie also makes no sense and I don't look forward to the recasting of Harrison Ford for the Han Solo spin-off because not matter who they choose he won't look anything like a young Ford unless they can somehow CGI his face onto someone's body.

I never said those weren't cash grabs. There is such thing as a well made cash grab. TFA is a well made cash grab, as is MJ2. Plus those cash grabs won't gross 800-900 fucking million domestically.
