Did Mike Leigh piss off BAFTA or something?

 Re: BAFTA Nominations
Selma snubbed, again. This is getting sort of bizarre.
Also: Rene Russo! I hope she snatches an Oscar nom. Truth be told, Meryl doesn't need another one for Into the Woods.

 Re: BAFTA Nominations
A couple of very solid choices, including 20,000 Days on Earth in Best Documentary. A couple unfortunate omissions, too, including Timothy Spall in Best Actor.

 Re: BAFTA Nominations
I think Russo is now #4 for Oscar, and everyone else is fighting for fifth spot. Nightcrawler wasn't as strong as I would've hoped, but Original Screenplay appears to be a lock at Oscar (joining Actor and Picture)

 Re: BAFTA Nominations
Selma was eligible, but the studio reportedly did not send DVDs to British Academy members. (This excuse again.)

 Re: BAFTA Nominations
If Tyldum can't make it here, can't see him making the Oscars. On the other hand, the continuing presence of Gyllenhaal makes me think he is safe, while the surprise omission in Actor could be Oyelowo, replaced by Cooper.

 Re: BAFTA Nominations
Selma was finished early December and Paramount decided that it could not make enough screeners for all awards bodies in time so it settled for making enough and sending them to the Academy. That is all. It all might still be too late, apparently the screeners were sent on December 19th. They should have delayed the release till next year. Or this year rather.

These noms are just boring. It's all the same movies getting nominated in every category.

I would start to be worried for team Selma, delays or no delays this is troubling.

Replace The Theory of Everything / Nightcrawler with Interstellar, and you have my five favorite films of the year. Weird because this never happens, last year my top 5 included Enough Said, In A World..., and The Spectacular Now. This year the official awards are lining up with my tastes.... What's happening? Renton wrote: DOCUMENTARY “20 Feet From Stardom,” Morgan Neville, Caitrin Rogers, Gil Friesen Absolutely fantastic movie, and I usually don't like documentaries. Hope this gets in for the Oscars. Recommend ya'll see it if ya'll ain't haven't done gone seen it yet.
