Eddie Redmayne will win Best Actor
Birdman and its star are too confrontational, divisive, and strange, and Eddie Redmayne, reportedly extremely Colin Firth-esque charming on the campaign trail, expertly transforms into Stephen Hawking. Just calling it now. No big deal.

I hope you're right, and I think this does have a chance of happening. Lecter will tell you you're wrong though and there is no way Keaton loses.

I'm in the Keaton camp. I think there will still be the faction who will hold his singing in Les Mis against him especially that cat killing duet with Seyfried.

As a part of team Birdman, I hope you're dead wrong.

Re: Eddie Redmayne will win Best Actor
I guess Keaton and Birdman fans just need to remember Mr. Hawking's inspirational, computerized Cicero quotation: "While there is life, there is hope."

Cumberbatch would win before Redmayne.

I don't see it. I think it will be Michael Keaton or, if things really pick up for American Sniper, BCoop.

Harvey does not always win.

Correct, but he still matters.

Re: Eddie Redmayne will win Best Actor
David wrote: Harvey does not always win. Now, he obviously doesn't but this is a close race and that's when it does matter. The Imitation Game is a bigger film than The Theory of Everything in every respect - bigger box-office, better Oscar chances overall, bigger starpower. That gives Cumberbatch the advantage. This will be a moot point because Keaton will probably win, since Cumberbatch and Redmayne will split the British vote.

Re: Eddie Redmayne will win Best Actor
I can definitely see this happening. The Best Actor race is so competitive that I can see a number of scenarios transpiring. Redmayne has the most Oscar baity role for sure (real life person?Check! Who is also very well known and respected? Check! And disabled? Check!), so it's possible.

Not sure if Hawking is respected. I think everyone takes pot shots at him.

Re: Eddie Redmayne will win Best Actor
He is respected. He can be parodied because of the computer voice (he has even parodied himself in a Simpsons episode), but the public still regards him as an authoritative and profoundly well-versed figure in science, and A Brief History of Time is among the bestselling books of its kind.

Yeah, he's one of the most respected people in the World, to my knowledge.
