I am sure the cast gets less overall this time. I added Waltz in a small role (he has like 10 minute sscreentime) and while there is Chris Pine, the roles of Aniston and Spacey are greatly reduced and Farrell is no longer there.

DLH:

$55m PADDINGTON

Could do the budget in the UK alone...

Good budget but it's not going to be covered in the UK alone.

I didn't attend the screening, but my (usually critical) colleagues surprisingly loved the film. Almost all of them.

Well, as cold as Germans are, there's just no way you can hate Paddington.

Paddington should have stayed in December.

Granted, maybe audiences won't appreciate the British humour and it won't gross more than $60m, but it would have a better chance.

I mean, who really wants to see NATM3 or Annie?

Yes Paddington moving out of Christmas was a bad bad move. Its budget is very good. And no it won't make that much in UK.....I don't know, is it releasing there in December?

There are already 2 family friendly films releasing on the same day near Christmas, moving Paddington wasn't that bad an idea. Plus it's opening on a weekend that has pretty strong box office potential with Wedding Ringer and Blackhat.

I didn't knew that it was releasing during holidays in England. I think it now has a good chance of getting $55m USD from UK.

Oh wait, darn, I was thinking in pounds. Ok, yes, it may reach $55m in the UK. I hope it does.

I initially thought it was stupid to move out of Christmas but it's supposed to be great and releasing on a holiday weekend so I think it can do solid business. Might be a leggy family crowd-pleaser. Family movies generally do great over MLK weekend. http://boxofficemojo.com/alltime/weekends/mlk.htm May have been overshadowed by other bigger movies during Christmas.

I can't see Paul Blart replicating its success, but $38m should easily put it into profit.

Great budget for Paul Blart, should double that domestically and at leas triple it worldwide. Pixels will definitely need to perfrom better than your average Sandler comedy, though

So you think it will make $76m domestically and $114m worldwide?

Has there been a mainstream film about Egypt which hasn't been over budget?

Cleopatra $240 m (adjusted) (Most expensive film of all time when it opened)
Exodus $165 m
Ten Commandments (1922 version was most expensive film of all time as was the 1956 version)
Prince of Egypt (expensive $70 m without marketing)
