Just an FYI, to Eagle I guess, the Derby quarterly and yearly scores are all screwed up.

It should be noted that Barnett is really on fire lately, as well as His Dudeness.

I have been contemplating moving this to Box Office Seer. Right now, there are processes that push to staging tables which hold the quarterly and yearly scores. Data somewhere in there is all mucked up, likely because of how various weeks got mucked up.

In a newly designed derby, I'd get rid of estimates / finals and use the box office data I have. This would eliminate the point of failure. I'd then try and find a way to make the calculations dynamic instead of staged.

Lots of work to fix this, I'd like to do it in 2015 and have a brand new derby for 2016, but a lot will depend on what Box Office's forum leaders decide to do, and if they'd advertise the game on their forums. If not, there just aren't enough people interested to make it worth the time.

I mean, I tried to update the estimates every monday morning with actuals, so if the derby wasn't reset in time, people would still have their official score. But getting the game reset every week was probably the hard part.

I'd be more than willing to help out in any way possible.

My big thing is scale. Find 50 people interested in playing, get those 50 people to all predict in Box Office Seer's Total Madness. If you can get 50 predictions on one movie in that game, I'll put a new derby on my radar and give it a home where it can be supported.

You could also PM / beg Crux, he is capable of looking into whatever data issue plagues the current derby, he may be more willing to dig into the current incarnation than I am.

Funny thing about Total Madness... my work computer lets me predict everything... except for Hobbit. It reads the Hobbit page as a "game" page, but no other page.

The only thing I can think of is whatever ad comes with the Hobbit screen triggers a warning in our security system.

Yes it should but if it was not updated this week then possibly from next weekend I'll try to update on time

Congrats to philin for winning the year, with The Turk and His Dudeness having very strong years as well, and The Scottie for having the top score for the games he played, which was most of them.

Derby is back!

I can't confirm that those people actually won the year/finished high. Because the derby messed up its scoring system almost midway through the year. It still has me at 80%, which is so so so wrong.

While Mike may have come in last this week, he did get the closest to Sniper by a good margin. Scottie got hands down the best on openers in general.

So is the Derby no longer a thing? Not updated to accept estimates for this upcoming weekend...

They don't have someone who constantly checks it. I believe I offered, but that never came about.
