 Re: Ferguson, Missouri
Please. As an admin, you should be above Algren like trolling. Maybe I didnt make myself clear in my other posts. I am blanketly calling the RIOTERS low life pieces of trash. Ya know, the rioters who have burned multiple family owned businesses down (many of them owned by African Americans and minorities) , shot people, stole, basically holding an entire town hostage. Having people be scared to come out of their homes. Those are the pieces of trash. The protesters...who are actually protesting and not rioting and being selfish...no issues with them whatsoever

lovemerox has no issue with those examples, though.

Yes, I'm sure the residents of Ferguson have been rioting for months. Every day. All day. Nobody has slept. They actually The Simpson Movie'd the city.

I just find it funny he posts pictures of people stealing food. FOOD. It's such an ironic and sad photograph, it speaks to the basic needs many people in that community struggle with daily. The violence as a whole just speaks to how angry and disenfranchised the people there feel.
Lovemerox is right, violence like this is never a good thing, and it's unfortunate. But damn, this country has some serious unresolved issues.

I think if you lived there, or owned a business there you wouldn't be so "meh" about what is happening there. Did the auto zone they burned down have food? Or the 14 other places? Or what about the cell phone stores where hundreds of phones were stolen. Or the clothing stores that were looted. Did you need pictures for that as well?

Let's try this. Lovemerox, why do you think people in Ferguson are so angry they are acting out in such a violent manner?

Eagle wrote: Let's try this. Lovemerox, why do you think people in Ferguson are so angry they are acting out in such a violent manner? Honestly...perhaps we got off on the wrong foot. I apologize if I came across as a jerk to you personally first and foremost. There was a lot of...drama today at work regarding this (in an office setting) so I am a bit on edge and I apologize. I think the black community is frustrated and scared. I think they feel as though they are not represented properly/fairly in the judicial system. Which is true. I think they feel whites a lot (not all) of the time are represented better with better sentences/punishments for the same crime. I think blacks STILL experience racism and they are fed up with it. I agree with all this. In fact, I think Zimmerman should have been found guilty and should be sitting in jail. (I think this verdict is adding a lot of fuel to the fire in the Brown case honestly) However, what is happening now is uncalled for. The rioters (not protesters) are being fucking stupid by going around and literally setting the god damn town on fire. Forcing people to hide in their homes. WRECKING and destroying businesses (many of which have owners who are black or another minority) Why would anyone take the rioters seriously...or want to empathize with them when they are putting an entire city in danger. Literally destroying the city. Its stupid. Even Al Sharpton and Browns parents PLEADED with the rioters to stop the violence and destruction. Al Sharpton actually seemed pissed off. If you notice, most of the rioters dont really say much in regards to the case, or issues that the African American community face. The protesters however...they make a lot of sense and are easier to empathize with. When I am called a racist for having these views is what pisses me off. I am not racist. I think its shitty to insinuate that just because I happen to disagree with what they are doing. IF THEY WERE WHITE I WOULD BE FEELING THE SAME WAY. Again, my apologies for getting riled up with you personally Eagle

Because he wasn't scheduled for trial, and they feel that blacks are treated unfairly. But they don't care about right and wrong, or any facts in the case. Sorry but get over it as the oppression was decades ago. And next then can we talk about other groups than like all women, and the Jewish, for starters. As they have had lots of past oppression.

 Re: Ferguson, Missouri
Lovemerox,
I don't believe I ever called you a racist, Algren's a racist, you just held opinions I disagreed with, opinions I felt were too narrow-minded. I did make a comment about many people acting like Jacko here, and that isn't racist, again it's just narrow-minded. If you say you're not racist, I believe you, you haven't done anything to make me believe otherwise.
Your answer did hit on a variety of issues I would agree exist, but I think it helps to take another step back and try to look at the whole picture. The black community in our country has serious issues. Issues embedded deep within black culture, issues I could write a paper about, some have. Examples would be absentee fathers, violence and crime, education/intelligence/money and the definition of black, and so on goes the list.
Much of black culture today owes it's roots in some form or another to slavery. In life, most things come back to money, and this is really no different. There is a HUGE gap between the wealth of minorities and whites. It's not because being white makes you predisposed to earning gobs of money, rather having money to begin with predisposes you to having money. Economic ladder climbing is hard, many do it anyways, but when you start talking about an entire race that just 150 years ago was forced to start at the very bottom of the economic ladder, it's no surprise to see that a disproportionate amount of black people are still poor. Shocker. That's not even mentioning racism, which current polls show hovers around 50% of whites.
I'm a firm believe in this St. Francis quote: "Give me the child until he is seven and I’ll give you the man." I'm a believer because when it comes to nature vs. nurture, most of the nurture related effects are imprinted in early childhood development. Now imagine you're born into one of the many uneducated, poor, black families in the United States. It's a sad reality that your first 7 years are most of the time not going to put you on equal ground, a hole from which you get to attempt to climb out of the rest of your life.
None of this is an excuse, it's just the world that exists today. For a majority of black Americans, life IS incredibly unfair. That unfairness breeds hopelessness, anger, and even violence. It's easy to look at the rioters and say they're animals, but you haven't had to deal with the hopelessness of believing your choices are sports, drugs, or poverty. Anger is not new, the mob mentality is well documented, it's no surprise to anyone paying attention that this was the outcome. It was the ONLY POSSIBLE OUTCOME.
I get frustrated because the question we need to be asking is HOW the FUCK do we FIX this MESS that WE created.

 Re: Ferguson, Missouri
Wow, I missed a bona fide huge WOKJ argument.
Anyway, not all racists know they are racist. It is called secondary racism. Much less obvious racism, but still racism. I am not saying lovemerox is that because I simply haven't bothered to read througfh the argument, I am just saying that it exists and it is very prevalent. I have done some experimental research on the subject in the past. Secondary racism can be found in pretty much every third to every other person.

Agree, though I struggle to cause these people racist. People naturally gravitate toward, and show positive bias toward, those who are like them in the most minuscule ways. It's built into us at the core. Biased maybe? I like to reserve the word racist for someone who consciously dislikes another person due to the color of their skin, maybe that's not the book definition, but it's the one I made up and use!

 Re: Ferguson, Missouri
So I am narrow minded. OK, if you say so.
But I was just bothered by what this lovemerox said, that first take responsibility for your actions. Something everyone seems fine with, and feel all black people can do whatever the want. Not following cops orders, attacking a cop, and running away from a cop. Talk about 3 Strikes, but that is just me.
