Re: 2014 Contenders Discussion But outside of him, the movie isn't supposed to be very good. Will his performance be enough?! I would think he would need two of the spots in the race to be up for grabs to have a shot.

The movie is definitely good enough and will be a major crowed pleaser.

Re: 2014 Contenders Discussion Get On up has a 6.7 avg and a 7.1 top critics avg after adding 6 reviews in the last two hours. It may not be an masterpiece but I think its safe to say the film itself is good to really good with outstanding acting. We will know for sure tomorrow.

Score is 73 and BFCA is up to 90. I think it's safe to say the film is good. Chadwick has gotten flat out raves.

Now Boyhood is a sure-fire Best Picture and Director nominee. Could easily see it winning Director.

Re: 2014 Contenders Discussion Awesome.  I thought it looked really good and I'm always up for Witherspoon in a great, meaty role. She doesn't get the praise she often deserves. I'm excited for it. September-December is really shaping up to be exciting, I'm hoping it will be great enough to save the rest of the year, which has been pretty disappointing.
