 Re: Production Budgets
Guardians is not making a profit from domestic, and even worldwide will be close.

 Re: Production Budgets
Well if tracking means anything, Guardians is opening to $70 mil and will finish close to $200 mil domestic.
Will that be close?

Will that be close? That will put it in the "loss" category. And there are no guarantees worldwide..

I'm not, because it's quite difficult to (and I don't care that much). I will just wait to be impressed.

 Re: Production Budgets
Do you think it can make the $193 mil OS that CA1 made? Or the $128 mil OS the Incredible Hulk made?

 Re: Production Budgets
It's an unknown property, so I am not sure about anything. At the moment, if it makes more than the $77m that Watchmen made (which it will because it's a kids film), I'd say that's a success.

 Re: Production Budgets
$30m for GoU is lesser than 42's $40m so that is a good news. It should be profitable Universal though it won't make much in OS markets.
GoTG was given a standard tentpole budget and I think this will surprise in OS markets this summer, so that $170m looks fine for now. Given the early tracking its looking that it will do a minimum $150m in domestic market so it needs close to another $250m OS which looks highly possible.

 Re: Production Budgets
$125m for that shit piece of CGI og TMNT? They were very smart not showing Splinter in trailers otherwise even kids (however will be attracted to this franchise) would not have seen this one.
There are a lot of visuals so "under 50m" sounds fine for this kind of found-footage movie.
$22m is fine of 100 foot journey though it might not make enough money domestically.

 Re: Production Budgets
With how the visuals look that seems just a bit spendy for Into The Storm. I expected less.

2 of those won't make a profit in the US.

 Re: Production Budgets
$90m and you don't have security over the final product??!! Shit man! Anyway, same budget as TE2.
All three of those will make a profit, so no worries, but that's a great budget for Let's Be Cops. But then look at it, it doesn't exactly look expensive.

 Re: Production Budgets
Even if SC2 makes 100m OS, it won't be profitable, it'll need at least 150m OS minimum

 Re: Production Budgets
I'm still very intrigued how films like No Good Deed cost $13m. I just cannot think where it was spent. Surely all you need are 3-4 actors, director, producers, writers, editors, music guy, and your usual film set roles like catering etc.....but how does that equate to $13m? Well, I suppose they had to rent that big house.
