The blood vessels that connect to your mouth/facial expressions that move when you sneeze are responsible for the blinking of the eyes.

Now, when they perform one duty, that is, to sneeze, they are unable to perform another, ie, keep your eyes open.

Now, when you try to do both at the same time, what happens is that you strain the blood vessels, and it's possible to overwhelm them. That can lead to them snapping, and that could literally tear you apart inside. Imagine crying tears of blood...

Because it is a built in reflex act that if you were able to, you'd blow your brains right out of the cavity of your eye sockets..

Haha, further reminds me of my crazy US History teacher...

Mr. Stack: Alright, so in the Civil War, if someone got shot in the arm, it could start an infection that would spread throughout there body like wildfire. So if Louie over here was shot in the arm, Mr. Robert Franco here would have to hold him down while Zach over here would saawww his arm off with a dull blade that had already been used at least 30 times that day, so it could take up to 10 minutes or more to get through the bone...
