Beverly Hills Cop IV will get tax rebates of $13.5m. The budget for on-location expenses is $56m.

Wow, did Apes' budget really go up 60 million in the last few months. Doesn't look like it will be as profitable as I once thought.

That's pretty crazy for what ALWAYS looked like a $50m-$65m opener. Those crazy $150m+ budgets should be reserved for films that expect $100m+ openings.

I understand that overseas is more important nowadays, but I still believe in the philosophy that you should try and break even with the USA, then overseas is largely all profit. But with a $170m budget, there is 0% chance of breaking even in the in the US, and a good chance of not breaking even at all from its theatrical run!

Almost double the budget of the first, I believe. But looks like it all paid off. And it should easily make more than $500 mil WW.

I don't think $500m will be enough on this one. As with all other movies, I think TV deals/DVD sales is where it will go into the black.

Do you think Edge of Tomorrow turned a profit from its theatrical run?

Not sure if such a huge budget was a great idea but I guess Marvel/Disney has the means to splurge.

$170m would not have been given to GoTG but right now Marvel superheros are on fire at BO so that budget seems reasonable.

A little high for Sex Tape, IMO.

If any of them were "a little high", I would have said Planes 2. Especially since it was meant to be a DTV release originally.

Well normally, yes. But animated films are always high. But usually simple comedies like Sex Tape don't cost $40m, as far as I know.

Post Re: Production Budgets
I think $40m is fine for Sex Tape, which stars some big names - I guess Diaz alone was $8m of that, and Segel was probably $5m. That's $13m alone. Then there's your supporting cast, and filming on location is always expensive. It's so easy to get up to $40m. I think that's low, and also considering it will make a couple of hundred million worldwide. The Other Woman also cost $40m. 22 Jump Street cost $50m. Neighbors cost $18m. There's the difference. Two of them starred the biggest names in US movie comedies (Diaz and Hill), and the other starred Seth Rogen (who only took a producers fee for the film) - if he had taken a salary, it would have been closer to the other ones as well. In conclusion; it ain't so cheap to make films in Hollywood, regardless of genre or simplicity.

And $50m isn't really "high" for an animated movie. C'mon, it's only fifty-damn-million. That's nothing, and wasn't even considered "high" 15 years ago. But for a straight-to-video production, it seems a little high. But it's all moot now anyway, since it's being released in cinemas. Perhaps THAT budget is the reason they did it.

Good to see that the success for first Planes didn't increase the budget for Planes 2.

Sex Tape budget wise looks fine the only problem is that it does not look good. Hopefully WW gross will save it.

Well, US comedies don't usually have international appeal, but I think with such a small budget, it will have no problem making a huge profit worldwide.

Hercules may save some face with OS markets but that's not even sure.
Lucy should be able to make more than $40m from its domestic total and OS will definitely make it a hit.
