 Re: World Cup 2014
There also have been so many great headers for goals in this tournament.

 Re: World Cup 2014
I wonder if there is a statistic about penalties during the first round (or the entire World Cup). The number of penalties so far keeps stunning me.

Well that France has a good team you already saw in the first match. Well at least Italy got it in the nuts. I hope Urgay will kick them out of the tournament.

 Re: World Cup 2014
All 6 South American teams could qualify for the second round. When was the last time any region is able to achieve that? Even if it has been done before, this is harder with more teams and fewer percentage of teams advancing to the 2nd round (50% vs. 16/24 before).
And they could end up playing each other in the next round.

Well, the World Cup is in South America, so don't blame me if I'm not too impressed.

 Re: World Cup 2014
Good for Germany that they won 4:0 against Portugal. Otherwise USA and Ghana would have made it.

 Re: World Cup 2014
Bosnia did have other opportunities to score and in general didn't play that well today, but yeah, referee can't make that mistake given it's a short pass and the player wasn't close to being offside.
France looks really good now to advance to quarterfinal; will likely play Germany there.

At least it's better than if Ghana had held on for the win (had a couple of good chances to expand the lead). In that case, US may not go through even with 6 points.

I don't think we'll make it through semi-finals, though. Looks like the top half will be much stronger than the bottom half with Costa Rica relegating Italy or Uruguay to 2nd position and in Brazil's quarter (of course there is still the possibility of CR losing the top spot if they don't play well against England). If things hold, the likelihood of a Netherlands/Argentina semifinal will be pretty high.

Provided Chile defeats the Netherlands in their next match.

Ghana will beat Portugal (because they are crap). So that 4:0 will come in handy and save Germany the second place.
