 Re: Game of Thrones:Season 4
Why does Benoiff and Weiss insist on taking a piss over Stannis? This episode was supposed to be the episode that highlights him.

Huh? Jon has to meet Mance before that happens.

 Re: Game of Thrones:Season 4
Yeah the episode would have had been at least ten minutes longer to that justice. I don't want that rushed. Still, by putting that big scene in 10, they are making it the probably the best episode 10 so far, considering the other major events that will happen.

Because a better climax would have been to have Stannis saving the day and they could have easily crammed the Mance scenes into the same episode. The episode tonight was only around 52 minutes. The shit with Sam and Aemon could have been easily cut

The shit with Sam and Aemon could have been easily cut Stannis will still get his moment of triumph, but it will just happen in episode ten instead. They are still following the book. And in the book there were several chapters in between the battle of the wall and Mance and Jon's scene with Stannis arriving.

I think They didn't want it to end the same way as Blackwater. Absolutely fantastic episode btw. New Sam is awesome. Somehow they managed to turn Thorne awesome. And we book readers actually got a shock with a couple of deaths. RIP Pyp and Grenn. And Ygritte although we knew that one was coming. I marked out when Ghost was released and when Edd scraped the wall. Maestar Aemon got in a great speech. And GIANTS ON MAMMOTHS. Fuck to the yeah.

Yeah the battle was amazing, as for Stannis, it also would have resembled The Two Towers too much if they had Stannis showing up during the middle of the battle.

 Re: Game of Thrones:Season 4
Yet it does bring up a bit of a time issue. Could Tyrion's escape be delayed until next season?

It also backfires on them since by shoving the said scenes in the last episode, it will get lost in the shuffle of other twists happening in the finale.

 Re: Game of Thrones:Season 4
Not really hell If Lady Stoneheart is the end she will overshadow everything anyway. I think they are just following the book. It is rare that HBO allows them an hour episode, and they couldn't have done that scene justice in 5 minutes or something. It is possible that it could be the last scene before the epilogue. I am guessing they are pushing Jon becoming commander to next season

 Re: Game of Thrones:Season 4
Yeah I thought that was a problem for season 2 where they ended that one episode with the shadow baby rather than Renly's death

I just don't see how they do that justice with everything else that is going to happen. The Wall will get atleast another 20 minutes, even without Jon being elected Lord Commander. Arya and the Hound will need at least two scenes. Dany is apparently getting at least one scene. They'll need to reestablish Brienne and Pod before dropping the Stoneheart bombshell. Bran will be meeting either Coldhands or the Children. Are they going to have the 15-20 minutes that will be necessary to complete that series of events?

 Re: Game of Thrones:Season 4
I hope everything isn't too rushed. I have read the episode will be 66 minutes. I guess HBO wants the last episode to be the longest. They usually only allow one episode over an hour a season.

 Re: Game of Thrones:Season 4
Final episode is around 66 minutes from waht I heard. No chance that Tywin's death gets pushed to neext year since it happens at the end of Storm of Swords and that Shae was shown lying in bed(Tywin's Chambers)from the first two season 4 trailers.

 Re: Game of Thrones:Season 4
I didn't know about the trailer part. That must mean Dany and Bran get less than 10 minutes combined. So maybe no Coldhands again. It might just be a lecture about warging into humans. No matter what happens it is going to epic.

They won't have time for that or Jon being elected. So we are for sure not finishing Storm of Swords this season.

 Re: Game of Thrones:Season 4
Considering next week we're getting the fight with the Children of the Forest Bran should get a decent amount of screentime. Also there was a rather prominent crossbow in the trailer. Charles Dance... Already said he's coming back next year to film the wake.

Giants. Mammoths. Giants on Mammoths. And poor Ygritte and Pyp.
This episode improved upon Battle of the Blackwater.

 Re: Game of Thrones:Season 4
Sufficiently badass, although the people I was watching with were pissed that the episode cut off where it did. It makes sense that next week's episode is going to be over an hour long, just given the number of threads they have to tie together. And at long last, this was the first episode I actually watched on time. It appears as though I picked a winner.

 Re: Game of Thrones:Season 4
A fun episode with a couple extremely exciting moments of action and daring, but I did not find it as involving (nor as moving) as the similar penultimate episode of the second season. This was more of an empty spectacle, however spectacular.
