I imagine a 2017 release date is most likely (between TASM3 and TASM4), but I wonder if TASM3 falling even more could start to scare them about this whole world-building thing. I'm pretty sure had TASM2 been a $300 million success they probably hoped for, they'd have given Sinister Six a release date already.

I don't think it could be. You can't build an universe, when you have the rights to only one real superhero/protagonist.

 Re: It's kinda crazy....
I'm pretty sure that sooner or later Disney will buy back the rights to SPIDER-MAN...
First of all Sony needs cash all the time and Disney was willing to buy AVENGERS and IRON MAN 3 from Paramount for a hefty price... (If I remember correctly Paramount got $100m plus 8 % of the WW box office)...
Fox on the other hand doesn't need to sell the rights back... It has X-MEN and FANTASTIC FOUR and can do severel individual X-Man or X-Woman movies plus crossovers between X & F4...

 Re: It's kinda crazy....
BTW, how long will it take 'til Disney builds a MARVEL or STAR WARS theme park in Florida?

 Re: It's kinda crazy....
Disney has 4 or 5 theme parks in Florida, so I was thinking they could build a 5th or 6th one...

Which is what I said, dude.

The Star Wars Land that's already planned is basically going to be a face lift of certain parts of Hollywood Studios. Unless they're still losing guests to Universal's Harry Potter World upon its completion, I wouldn't expect anything more ambitious to happen.

I dont think the former will happen. But the latter may happen in 10 years. Though they already have Hollywood Studios, so can incorporate all of that in there. Bigger question is how does Universal rebrand their Marvel Super Hero Island after their contract expires. Can't switch to DC as Six Flags owns that. Universal's theme park rights to the Marvel properties east of the Mississippi are for either 99 years, or in perpetuity. And when Disney bought Marvel, they made some kind of agreement or promise that they would not interfere with Universal's use of the Marvel stuff in Florida. So Disney is legally prohibited from doing anything in Florida (and Japan)...but they can do anything they want west of the Mississippi (and in Paris, Hong Kong, and I believe Shanghai too). In the case of Anaheim, the prevailing rumor is that the undeveloped land Disney now owns across the street from Disneyland is indeed planned to have a Marvel theme park.

 Re: It's kinda crazy....
Here's one: X-Men Day's of Future Past cost 200 million, and X3 still cost 210 million. Considering that probably half the budget was just to secure the huge cast, it's kind of crazy how much they were able to do with that film, and still be below X3 which was a 100 million increase over X2. They really were hoping for X3 to explode, and also probably part of the reason they scaled back and a true X4 never happened.

Of course Disney could always decide to buy back the rights from Universal for some big money...

Costing just $10m less than The Last Stand and grossing much less. But overseas, of course, it's doing much better. Plus, costing $10m less and being able to produce a better product, not too shabby.

 Re: It's kinda crazy....
I edited my post above. I did some math and I am pretty sure it will gross more than $215 million. It will hit $200 million within the next 14 days. It should pass $215 million on its 6th weekend or 7th at latest.

Yes, I did. But with it starting in X-Men's 6th weekend, it will not do that much damage anyway. Even if it does, a week later X-Men will hit $215 million.

You emulated The Last Stand's run for Days of Future Past to get the $215m after seven weekends?

No, I calculate it the same way, I project totals for films in my weekend analyses - going day by day, weekend by weekend and drawing comparisons from multiplie films, playing out worst-case and best-case scenarios and average them out.
