Well it's an old tradition, very similar to the monarchy. These are old traditions that you wouldn't know about because they won't exist in a young immigrant country like yours. It's not like you are disallowed to practice whatever religion you wish anyway (or join whatever church you wish for that matter). You definetely can. The only de facto effect it has is that the members of the royal family, as well as their spouses, must be in the Lutheran Church. That's pretty much it.
You'd be surprised at the number of countries that have state religions. Great Britain is one example.
Anyway, like I said, I am against it. It isn't something that bothers me much, but I am against it.

But you must be proud of your women: Quote: Stockholm is a city filled with the best looking women in the world, women so good looking that when you walk into a 7-11 you will swear that you have just walked into a reality tv set, What Happens When Supermodels Work at A Convenience Store? Yes I know it's a long name, but hey it's true. Better yet the women are super friendly, & extremely educated, they speak English with English accents, they start making you wonder whether England in fact had good looking women but they're all on working vacations in Sweden, turns out they're not as England doesn't have but in fact they're all just really well studied Swedish girls.
2.1.3 What is "Scandinavia"?
In Nordic languages, the meaning is quite clear:
Skandinavien:
Sweden, Denmark, Norway (and sometimes Iceland)
-- the ancient lands of the Norsemen.
The Scandinavian peninsula, on the other hand, is usually simply understood as comprising Norway and Sweden, despite the unclear border to the Kola peninsula. The northernmost part of Finland is of course also situated on the Scandinavian peninsula.
[Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English]
SCANDINAVIAN
1. of the countries Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland
in northern Europe, or their people or languages.
A lot of the people at my church were either German or Scandinavian. The women were beautiful, which is one of the reasons why the guys joined the Youth Group. (Plus, their parents all thought we were "nice" guys. Man, did we fool them
