Apparently the hydrogen peroxide in tooth whitening products has been shown to stimulate the growth of cancerous cells in animals - and at least two people with no other vices apart from tooth whitening developed rapid and advanced oral cancer for no apparent reason.

I see Americans are all about the Crest Whitening Strips. Not only have i seen countless people complaining that these strips actually cause pain - but ive noticed people complaining that they flare up old dental problems.
Is it really worth all the hassel when you can achieve similar results by say, brushing your teeth?

As a heavy drinker of Pepsi Max im used to being concerned about my teeth. I brush for 10 minutes morning and night with a regular tootpaste and yet i still see slight discolouration in my teeth. But i think id feel safer using whitening toothbrush which requires more usage over a longer peroid and ultimately its not as easy to get results - but it seems safer.
I used to use pearl drops teeth whitening rather infrequently. Im not sure if it contained this ingredient though. I certainly wouldn't use "pain strips" anyway; regardless of how good the results are - all they seem to do is burn away a layer of your teeth.

Well, I brush my teeth, floss and use mouthwash, so... no oral cancer for me!

Brushing your teeth once a week, and flossing them once a year doesn't count.

Being a professional dentist Manhattan Beach, I would say that not all tooth-whitening products cause such terrible disease. It is always good to take these types of products under prescription of their dentist.
