I was a huge fan of Before Midnight, but I'm not supporting it because I disagree with it's placement in the adapted category.

What other good adapted screenplays were made this year? I am having trouble finding any outside of Leonardo DiCaprio films. I haven't seen any of them in this thread besides The Wolf. I can't believe that The Great Gatsby wasn't nominated here. That book will never get a better adaptation than that.

Blue Is the Warmest Color deserved a nomination.

The same reason a James Bond film not based on any specific Ian Fleming story would still be considered adapted. The based-on-character(s)-created-by credit.

Before Midnight or Wolf of Wall Street would be well deserved. I see why one would want to protest Before Midnight's categorization but I'd love to see Linklater win an Oscar.
