 Re: Predict Oscar nom shockers
Maybe if American Hustle truly is a beast tomorrow morning, Jeremy Renner will be nominated for Best Supporting Actor. He is a big up-and-coming star they have nominated twice before (for The Hurt Locker and for The Town). And the two actors widely considered to be vying for the fifth space in the category, Daniel Brühl in Rush and James Gandolfini in Enough Said, are hardly unconquerable due to the relatively small pictures they are in.

I don't know how it will turn out in the end, but how do you figure it is Brühl vs. Gandolfini for the last spot? Brühl got BAFTA, BFCA, Globes and SAG nods. Exactly the same as Barkhad Abdi. All the major four recognitions necessary. Wheras Bradley Cooper didn't get a SAG nom. It is Gandolfini vs. Cooper.

 Re: Predict Oscar nom shockers
My prediction:
the shocker will be that there won't be a shocker.
I expect a 17/20 or 18/20 match with the SAG, a 5/5 match with the DGA and a 9/10 match with the PGA.
The only somewhat shocking thing I can imagine is Fruitvale Stationm not being completely snubbed and getting either a screenplay or a Best Supporting Actress nod.

I just believe Abdi, Cooper, Fassbender, and Leto are 100 percent safe.

 Re: Predict Oscar nom shockers
Ok here's my 'shocker' predicts:
Two of the DGA directors (McQueen, Cuaron, Russell, Scorsese, Greengrass) miss, with 2 of Spike Jonze, Alexander Payne or the Coens or someone really surprising getting in
Tom Hanks either gets 2 nominations or his only nomination is for Saving Mr Banks
And probably my most daring prediction:
Lupita N'yongo doesn't get nominated

 Re: Predict Oscar nom shockers
Would FROZEN as best picture (not animated picture) be a shocking nom?

Spike Jonze or Scorsese will get in for Best Director, Greengrass or Payne will be out. there will be a "surprise" Best Supporting Actor nom (maybe Will Forte or something) Saving Mr. Banks will get no nominations 3 out of 3 bitches. (kinda with SMB but whatevs)

 Re: Predict Oscar nom shockers
Not much to find this year. The biggest ones for me are probably Hanks and Thompson missing, and Dallas Buyers Club getting editing over The Wolf of Wall Street.
