Looking at the rest of nominations, no editing for Wolf of Wall Street; in fact no tech noms at all for it, so definitely it's behind 12YAS/AH/Gravity in the pecking order.

The Great Gatsby shut out of Best Original Song. The one nominee (Alone Yet Not Alone?) came way, way out of the blue.

Only 9 noms for 12YAS, 10 for AH, so the race is officially on.
Dallas Buyers Club getting that editing nom is not something I would have predicted.

If anyone will upset Cate, it will be Amy Adams because I'm pretty sure Hustle will be riding a wave and take home Best Picture and she is incredibly overdue.

The Grandmaster in Best Cinematography and Best Costume Design. The Invisible Woman is also nominated for the latter.

I find it sad that Lone Ranger got more nominations than Saving Mr. Banks did.

If I needed any more confirmation that American Hustle is the new frontrunner over 12 Years a Slave, it's the nomination totals:
American Hustle and Gravity: 10 12 Years a Slave: 9
And with David O. Russell getting all nominations in all four acting categories again for his film, I think American Hustle is winning on Oscar night!
Peace, Mike

Happy to see the two noms for The Grandmaster!
Also should mention that Gravity also got 10 noms and should almost sweep the techs.
Overall no real surprises unlike last year, and I actually think 12YAS/AH/Gravity is actually going to be a fun race, with DiCaprio and Adams making their categories more suspenseful as well.

74.8% accuracy, just a hair better than I did last year.
Got everything right on Best Picture, Adapted Screenplay, and Production Design.

That ridiculous Meryl Streep nomination over Emma Thompson? Go home Oscars, you're drunk.

Re: 2014 Academy Awards nominations! (Thu. Jan. 16, 5:38 AM
I'm happy with 9/10 best pics. The AMC marathon will be worth it again this year. The most surprising nod for me was Jonah Hill in the wolf of wall street. Emma Thompson not getting in for saving Mr banks but Amy Adams did for American Hustle. I’m happy for Amy Adams. This is her fifth nod I think and zero wins. It will be extremely difficult to beat Cate Blanchett however, but surprises can happen. American Hustle had acting nods in all 4 categories just like Silver Linings Playbook. Same director of that previous film too. Sally Hawkins getting in for Blue Jasmine was a nice get too. I wasn’t a huge fan of the Butler, but if anyone would have gotten a nod it would have been Oprah but not this year.
American Hustle and Gravity lead with 10 nods

Glad Roberts got in over Oprah. I wish we got another surprise nom instead of Sally Hawkins, who was fine in Blue Jasmine but not really nomination worthy. (lol and we didn't get that Jennifer Garner nom that everyone was kinda expecting)
