Re: Rocky: The Musical - can it earn a profit?
From what I've heard, ticket sales are pretty soft. They have been available to buy online for awhile now. I believe there is even a discount code for performances, which is never a great sign this early on.
I'm hoping it does well because a lot of talent is involved in this and it is actually supposed to be good, but I have my doubts. I'll still no doubt be seeing it this spring though.

It opens in late Feb early March. Let us (me) know what you think when you see it. Perhaps we should make an Everyone's a Critic thread for it.

Re: Rocky: The Musical - can it earn a profit?
So previews have started a couple weeks ago and from what I've heard, it's a lot of fun. I've heard the staging is amazing and it is pure spectacle, with the fight sequence at the end being the part everyone RAVES about. The ring comes out over the first 8 or so rows, and the people sitting in those rows are put in bleacher seating on the stage.
I've heard the music is pretty mediocre with a couple standouts. It's been selling really well thus far and everyone seems to think it will be a bit fat hit that runs for years.
My plan is to see it at 2PM on June 28th. Just have to buy tickets.

Here is Sylvester Stallone making a surprise appearance at the first preview.

The dream is over. After 216 shows, Rocky will end its run at the Winter Garden Theatre.
