Nah, it's like the Oscars, otherwise Eagle will get it every single time. I mean it's not like he will stop running the awards in a year
The discussion on the honorary award is usually held shortly before the ceremony and is completely behind the scenes.

Okay, yeah, that makes sense. That's how I'll leave that.

Can I just say that EP III comes out on the 19th, so having anything that weekend probably would suck, and the following weekend would be better.

The weekend that Star Wars comes out will probably be when a lot of people are on, though.

What should the stipulations be? Vote for anyone you think deserves an "honorary award" for being a poster here? PEACE, Mike As far as I know, the honorary award is decided behind the scenes without outside voting. It is decided by the organizers of the show with probable consulting of the mods.
Here is a suggestion.
Why not let the winner of the last honorary award PICK and give it to the next winner - it can be a tradition.
If someone won it, they should be trusted to give it out to the next best person.
Then the past person can give a parting speech and then make the award speech to the new winner.

Yes, but I know I'll be wanting to talk about EP III and not follow the awards that weekend. It only gets one opening weekend to be excited about it.

I concur with everyone else. That is definately an excellent idea, Goldie. I will talk to Eagle, or he'll see this. Whichever comes first. Heh.

Alright, cool, this is all looking great. Now I'd like to address the whole "counting votes" thing. The reason why I took myself out of the awards contention was because I wanted a counter who is not up for the awards, and so the voting will be completely impartial. I don’t want people to throw in my name just because I am counting the ballots, because it happens. And I don’t want anyone else to disqualify themselves. I am completely trustworthy, believe me. Does anyone have a problem with this? I have no problem taking on the task, and I am not going to be a nominee anywhere, so I have no reason to cheat.
What do people think? I know some have expressed that they would prefer to have more than one counter, and I can understand that. If that is what everyone wants, then that is what will happen. I just want to hear everyone's opinion.
PEACE, Mike

I trust you 100% , Mike. I also think that vote counters should be disqualified from the awards, because that has been a point of contention in the past, and this is the only way to completely avoid any bitching about the results.

You are probably the most trustworthy person for this. If they all want you to have someone else help you, then I'd suggest Xiayun or DP07. They generally keep out of the personality politics of the board and are both smart guys.

That sounds smart but I think unecessary. There are other ways around that. Then you are the one to make that decision.
I think it is OK for a group to be used but the counters should vote within the first week say. That would take care of all of your concerns.
- The people receiving the voters will have voted already so it doesn't matter.
- And those requesting others to vote, will have voted already so it would be a fairer request.

Thanks for the support guys.
The categories are shaping up well! Anybody can feel free to input their opinion. Any categories that should be cut? Any categories that should be added? Etc.
Also, is it best to vote on having a host? I think it makes sense to sort of get the most entertaining people and figure out who is the best to host. Or something.
PEACE, Mike

I compeltely agrew ith Goldie on this, in fact I think counters shoudl either not vote or be required to vote before voting is opened to other emmebrs, otherwise they are unfailry given the ability to decide winners.

I do too. I'm sure those here wouldn't do anything of the sort intentionally, but it might sway some votes.
Also, I like May 29th, but that might not suit everyone since May 30th is Memorial Day. I dunno if there will be people on weekend trips, but for those still in high school, most are off the next day. School is out for me before then anyway, but I know there are quite a few still in high school here.

Mike...
Um? Couldn't you go through Lecter and me since we did the awards last time? How do you know we didn't want to do them again?
Lecter and I started the tradition, and, well, just like those who took your version of Survivor, we kind of wish you asked us before just declaring the awards as your own...

Nothing personal
But just because they were run one time, does that give you guys the exclusive on them forever???
Just asking. As I think a compromise, should be considered.
