Has anyone ever won consecutive acting oscars? Looks like JLaw is a lock for a nomination, at least.

Tom Hanks is the most recent. Back to back wins for Philadelphia and Forrest Gump.

Is Lupita Nyong'o the current frontrunner in this race? It appears so....

I agree. JLaw's reviews are sensational yet again and, if American Hustle doesn't win anywhere else, she could be the logical place to reward it. The argument against her, of course, is that she won last year.

I would've said it was gonna be Oprah just a couple of weeks ago, but that Globes snub is not a good sign. She'll still be nominated, though.

I think either Julia Roberts or Oprah won't make it. Would be funny if we got a random nom like Maggie Gyllenhaal in Crazy Heart that one year.

I'd be upset if Oprah won that Oscar. I am also not that much of a fan of Nyong'o's performance. Haven't seen Lawrence's turn yet, but I'm okay with Squibb.

A shame Naomie Harris is not in serious contention here for Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. One of my favorite performances of the year.

For me Lupita's Patsey was the most memorable performance from 12 Years A Slave. It was so haunting her last image as Solomon rides away to freedom. Quite tragic and the whip scene was almost unbearable. She would be my choice.

I wish Sally Hawkins for Blue Jasmine could get in somehow.

No fucking way. Lawrence winning over Robbie is prison/execution worthy.

She's just a pretty face. Lawrence, on the other hand, is an actress. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the award is for Best Actress, no?

So it is. Ha. But still, it is about ACTING. Not being pretty.

Actually, I agree with the last part. Lawrence was great, but even as a huge fan, I wouldn't give her her second Oscar for that performance. Though she was bettee than Lupita Nyong'o. June Squibb ruled the category and I really hope that Sally Hawkins can make the cut.
