 Algren & David - rejoice! "Last Christmas, Lee Child's popular ex-military anti-hero Jack Reacher was brought to the screen by Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie, who will be reteaming soon for the fifth installment of Cruise's action franchise, Mission: Impossible 5.
Whether you were a fan of Child's books and liked Tom Cruises's take on his character or not, it did decently, grossing roughly $80 million domestic and another
$138 million overseas, so Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions are moving ahead with a sequel based on Child's most recent Jack Reacher novel "Never Go Back," published this fall.
In the novel, Reacher goes back to his old Virginia military base to have dinner with a female colleague who he learns has been arrested, and soon, Reacher himself finds himself being charged with crimes himself. Once again, he needs to learn the truth the way that only Jack Reacher knows how, which often means violence.
Paramount is looking for writers for the sequel since previous writer Christopher McQuarrie is too busy preparing Missions: Impossible 5 to start production on that next summer, although they hope McQuarrie might be able to direct the sequel after finishing "MI5.""http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=112263____________________________________________________________________________ IMO, this is in the "I'll believe it when I see it"-category alongside Prometheus 2 and The Girl who Played with Fire.

Re: Algren & David - rejoice! Even though I only found Jack Reacher decent I'm happy for the fans. It would have been stupid not to make another, IMO. The first did very solidly and had great WOM. I can see the sequel increasing in gross for sure.
