Any bets on how many of the voters here actually saw Wolf of Wall Street before nominating it for Picture/Directing/Actor/Screenplay? I'd be shocked if the number was above zero.

They probably didn't see Lone Survivor and American Hustle either.

Too many acting nominations or they should just have separate categories like the Globes.

Post Re: 2013 Golden Satellite nominations
Three nominations stand out as peculiar: Casey Affleck in Out of the Furnace, Ryan Gosling in The Place Beyond the Pines, and Emily Watson in The Book Thief. Every other choice can be reduced to, "They chose the seven or eight people widely considered in contention for the equivalent Oscar," but Affleck, Gosling, and Watson are not on many or even any prognosticators' lists, so I wonder if these are choices inspired by real admiration.

There are a handful of phenomenal performances in The Place Beyond the Pines, even if it is well outside the Oscar race at this point.

I love how they only bothered to nominate two movies for Best Film Editing. ;)

You know what stands out much more? Despicable Me 2 missing from their Best Animated Feature nominees list, which includes Turbo, Epic and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2.
