I would like to run a new poster awards thingie (one of which I will not be a part of and I can't be voted for in any awards, not that anyone would vote for me anyways. Basically I want to be the host/runner, and not be eligible for the awards). So, what I'm asking is, where are they at? When was the last one (or has there even been one here?). And is this acceptable then? Maybe you guys are against having a poster awards? I don't know what the protocol here is. I'd like to start one if that's okay, and then figure out the categories and move on and do it.

EDIT: I see, the last one was done about 4 months ago. Maybe it is too early to do another? Although I think it would be fun, and we seem to have a new group of major posters. Up to everyone else.

I was mega-snubbed last time. Me and Rod held our own awards, for the posters with no nominations. It was super fun!

As the process for this takes awhile - nominations, counting, discussion, voting, counting, awards, etc. - are your dates above when the process should be started or when the awards should happen.

You guys should split the difference and get it started in a couple weeks. MikeQ's idea of DQing himself is honorable, since whoever hosts it gets a lot of votes by default.

Well, I'm going to start it up soon, if there are no objections. It would take about a month for the nomination period, and then another 3 weeks for voting for winners, and then we'd have to have a set ceremony date. So the final winners wouldn't be announced until the second half of May. I think that is fine. I've already got a PM asking to help me, so I just need them to get back to me and then I can start it up.

I'm just going to take the same categories as last time, unless there are some more that should be added this time around that people would like. I'm also taking basically the same process. So, anyone who wants to throw any added ideas out, feel free! Thanks.

Okay, so, I’m opening up for the awards discussion first before I get rolling. I’m doing the same process as last time, with this pre-awards discussion, then nomination period, then announce the nominees, then winner voting period, and then have a set awards ceremony date.

We need to decide on an awards ceremony date, sometime in the second half of May would work best. What’s the best date?

I’m going to have help, in that I want to get one person to take charge of assigning speech writers/presenters for each award and taking care of that. And I’d like to get a host for the awards ceremony; personally I’d like to get Rod again, because he did it last time and it looks like he did a fabulous job. But we can discuss on that, and decide who we all think is best. Whatever works. And then I would like to count the votes. The reason why I took myself out of the awards contention was because I wanted a counter who is not up for the awards, and so the voting will be completely impartial. I don’t want people to throw in my name just because I am counting the ballots. And I don’t want anyone else to disqualify themselves. So, am I trustworthy enough to count the votes for the awards? Does anyone have a problem with this? I have no problem taking on the task, and I am not going to be a nominee anywhere, so I have no reason to cheat.

These are the categories that were used last time and so I have lined up again for this time around. The honorary award I’m not sure about, since I assume that was awarded to Eagle and the site because of the new great site that it was. Would we like to have an honorary award again, and have anyone eligible? People can vote for who they think really deserves an honour? Also, are there any categories we want to cut out this time, or add this time? Let me know.

I think the debating categories should be combined into one...debating is debating.


And I don't personally care much for the most missed poster since almost every person who has won it in the past has come back (maybe they came back BECAUSE of the award? ). But tha'ts just personal opinion on this one, and I don't know how others feel about it.

I also agree about the debating categories! I think it should be just one debating category, but I didn't want to combine them until most people agreed. I simply listed what you guys had last time.
