The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (INTL)
I expect major improvements overseas. The first film made $283,237,076 internationally. New Moon jumped more than 100% over Twilight, I don't think a similar increase is all that unlikely overseas.
Right now I'm thinking $500 million overseas and around $940-960 million worldwide.

Re: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (INTL)
So, what's everyone thinking? I'd be shocked if it did less than $500 million. This is going to be a major event.
With a little luck, it could actually crack $1 billion worldwide.
I wonder how it will do here. The free TV-premiere of the first movie had 6.34 million viewers on Sunday (I must say that the film was shown surprisingly soon after its theatrical release, though). The hype is aplpable, the presales are doing very well. I'm thinking 3.2-3.4 million admissions in total at least, but I wouldn't rule out 4 million.

There's 0.0 chance of it making $1b.
Overseas it will make around $400m. Nobody seems to give a shit here in China.

Re: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (INTL)
I am not sure that this is a given for $500m OS total. The first movie had a really good WOM domestically but the WOM in Asian markets was just ok. Its not going to see a big increase because the first one is seen as an action movie first than a love story which will prevent its HUGE increase like NM. It could reach $450m OS but I still see its domestic gross being higher than OS gross.

Re: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (INTL)
Almost twice the first film's opening, I think. This pattern should repeat itself across most markets. I expect particularly large increases in the UK and Russia.

Re: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (INTL)
BOM mentioned that the local currency is worth quite a bit less compared to the dollar too, now, which makes it even more impressive in admissions.

Re: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (INTL)
In Brazil it opened to 5.2m. Not that far up from Hunger Games's 3.1m. Based on what I am hearing in China it is set to barely increase over the first one. I think 400m will happen but I am not sure about 500m.

Re: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (INTL)
Wasn't is supposed to be $6.2 in Brazil? Did they overestimate?
BTW I never understood the $500m OS predictions on this one. While NM doubled Twilight's OS gross this one had already taken the benefit of awareness and theater miss that some Twilight fanbase brought over for NM.

Good number but now not as impressive. It should also be more frontloaded this time so it needs bigger openings.

No surprise here, previews were much bigger than THG's opening day in Germany...

It's still early, but I wouldn't be surprised if CF triples THG's opening weekend in Germany...

Re: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (INTL)
Based on Overseas Trends it will open bigger in all markets but does not look to double in all markets.
