I was like 99.9% sure it was going to be released by Criterion. It's not the first film they'll have by the director. This is a perfect addition to their catalog.

I see it getting reaching $2m and entering Top 10. It should climb to #9 surpassing Crash(1996) but I don't see it getting any higher as of now.

Yeah, I think it would need a major Oscar nomination to have a shot at getting past 9.

Traditionally Academy do not give nominations to these kind of movies. I feel the buzz for Fassbender and Shame was much higher than this one and it still didn't materialize into a nomination. Though you never know if it gets an actress nomination. I don't see a BP nomination at all.

I know BP won't happen but I'm hoping for a miracle and that it receives a Best Actress nomination. Hot young girls are an easier sell to the Academy than a naked Michael Fassbender . I do agree that there was more buzz for his performance, but it could be easier for an actress to score for a racy role. We'll see. I'm not betting on it. I'm just crossing my fingers.

Because it's made up of old, pervy men . But yeah, it's a double standard. Fassbender's performance was fantastic. Easily one of that year's best. Yet no nomination. Sex sells when it's an attractive woman, so Adele could possibly have a better shot even if there seemed to be more buzz for Fassbender.

I could certainly see the Hollywood Foreign Press going for her. They also nominated Fassbender for Shame and several performances have been nominated in smaller films there (Tilda Swinton for We Need To Talk About Kevin, Maggie Gyllenhaal for Sherrybaby, etc...). So at the very least I'm hoping it gets nominated for a couple of awards there. A Best Foreign Film nomination there is a shoe-in.
