Re: The Hunger Games - Catching Fire 450m+ Club
Reviews are really promising which will mean A LOT towards older audiences. A HUGE opening is assured, but if legs are as good as the reviews suggest than this might just be the first sequel to ever top a $400M+ predecessor.

Re: The Hunger Games - Catching Fire 450m+ Club
I am staring to think a lower opening and better legs.
Nothing to suggest anything over 180 million based on box office logic.

Re: The Hunger Games - Catching Fire 450m+ Club
POTC 2, TDK, and Shrek 2 would have grossed more than their predecessors if they had earned 408m. It's just a fluke of the numbers. Most movies to earn 400m have maximized their potential.

Re: The Hunger Games - Catching Fire 450m+ Club
In other news CF is in 2D not 3D Beause the only way some people's openings make sense if it were in 3D

The early reviews are really promising but so were the reviews of the predecessor.

I don't think anyone who claims to be a "Tomato Watcher" over the years, can have possibly missed the fact that producers release their films early to be reviewed by media sources friendly to them/owned by them. Whether a big budget movie finally ends up being Fresh or Rotten on Rotten Tomatoes, the first 25 or so early reviews are almost exclusively positive.

I have a thought of someone reading your post and wondering what the hell you meant by "source material", and then having read inside the brackets, their confusion disappeared. Your hate towards this franchise is for Jennifer Lawrence? Now I get why you liked the twilight saga films I don't hate this franchise at all. And even if I did, it wouldn't be because of Jennifer Lawrence. She's average in every way. I don't like or dislike her. I think The Hunger Games was a shit movie. Lawrence was probably one of the better parts of it. And why did you start about that anyway? My comment that you replied to wasn't anything to do with this franchise, just a humourous observation about your choice of words.

Re: The Hunger Games - Catching Fire 450m+ Club
I perhaps look at the box office as looking at past openers while others look at buzz and hype and just base a predict on that.
THG is wider then HP and Twilight but still is a fanbase film so the weekend will be more frontloaded then THG.

Re: The Hunger Games - Catching Fire 450m+ Club
Every sequel has a fanbase.....some have very strict fanbase (aka Twilight) some have a wider lot more casual fanbase (THG). You decide which one will be more frontloaded.
