 Re: Thor: The Dark World
It's still better than Captain America and Iron Man 2, but this is the slightest Marvel superhero film to date. It's funny, good characters, and some fun action, but it is instantly forgettable and without the humor and better graphics, it's really not much better than say Green Lantern. I'm down for a third, but the stakes just aren't the same now that The Avengers have happened. Also my least favorite superhero film of the year, but it's not to say I did not have a good time while there.
Solid B/B+

Captain America is shit, It's the Rocketeer with a big budget.
And his cameo brought the entire film down to almost Fantastic Four Levels (And I'm talking 1990 version)

 Re: Thor: The Dark World
Thegun's comment is a bit nonsensical. He says it is shit because it is similar to a very entertaining earlier film, but with a larger budget. Ooh, burn.

 Re: Thor: The Dark World
I'm saying Johnson ripped himself off, The 1940s setting has been done to death, and Chris Evans was very bland as the character, and the character itself was a little bland. If you liked, it good for you. I enjoyed the Boot Camp and the romance angle though. Overall I still enjoyed it, but it was easily the weakest film for me. It's mere existence was there for the Avengers.
Back to Thor, the post sequences were both shit. And poor Stellen Skarsgard. His character was handled so poorly in this film.

 Re: Thor: The Dark World
Keep on rolling, Marvel train. Much like Iron Man 3, Thor 2 doubles down on the humor yet still has better action sequences than its predecessor. The Dark World does miss Branagh when it needs to be dramatic though, I felt like it needed another 10-15 minutes to give things more depth. Like another scene with Hemsworth-Portman-Hiddleson walking through the Dark World cracking wise and being angsty at the same time. So a bit of a step down from the first Thor for that, but still mostly awesome. I also wish we had a bit more time with his Asgardian buddies. Levi, Alexander and Stevenson are all great in their short times. Luckily it looks like Thor 3 will be an internal Asgardian conflict, so lets bring Portman, Dennings, Skarsgard and Intern up there. A-
I also loved the final credits scene. Benecio's scene was dumb.

I will see this tomorrow. I earn so much now that I am happy to waste my money on crappy superhero movies.

Thor: The Dark World
A pretty trashy movie. The constant jokes and reliance on unspectacular CGI imagery made for pre-teen entertainment. With a great looking, but under-utilised, villain, and an anti-climactic finale (which consists of destruction the size of only a large house), and Thor: The Dark World is a wasted opportunity on a grand scale. This 2-hour advertisement seems like filler more until the eventual sequel of the ensemble. With a few brief mentions of "New York" and "S.H.I.E.L.D.", the script tries so very hard to convince us that this is part of the same universe, but it falls flat. The script in general is flat, cliched, and unimaginative.
The twist with Thor's hand being cut off was actually pretty neat, but the "surprise" ending where Loki is on the throne was not a surprise in the slightest. Loki was good, Thor was lame, and the girls were forgettable. Possibly the best part was Rene Russo fighting Christopher Eccleston, then her death, and then the lovely send-off in boats - that whole scene was nice. There were no mid-credits or after-credits scenes. We waited right until the very end.
Better than Thor.

 Re: Thor: The Dark World
Slightly not as great as Thor. But it holds it's own.
I thought it had all the charm of the first, and even had some similar feel to Man of Steel.

 Re: Thor: The Dark World
Saw it for a second time and grew a bit more, still a B
Constant jokes became more annoying and the villian's main purpose/death are not well designed and developed
