The Avengers acted like a sequel, so Age of Ultron will act like a threequel or even a fourth entry, hence it will not make more than The Avengers as the second in franchises usually is the highest.

Won't happen. I see $180 million at worst and $225 million at best. The only way an Avengers movie could open to $250 million is if they add Spider-Man or the X-Men...

Still firmly believe in $250m. Iron Man 3's massive frontloading tells a lot about just how well received Avengers was.

But Thor 2's mediocre increase tells us a lot more about just how short-lived that good Avengers reception has been.

Don't go putting your house on Avengers 2 making $250m.

I don't think it was short lived at all.

Iron Man is the heart of the MCU, and Hulk was the MVP of the Avengers. Other than them, I'm not so sure there's a lot of incentive for people to check out the stand-alone features.
