The latest Entertainment Weekly lists several shows that are on the potential chopping block for the season, by a level of axes (1 ax is a good chance at coming back, 5 axes means that it is unlikely). Please contribute another show if you are worried about whether it will survive to next season, or discuss your feelings on possible cancellations.

I've come to terms with the fact that ABC will most likely cancel Less Than Perfect, one of my favorite sitcoms. At least it had a good run (three seasons).

Haven't watched this year but wasn't Joan of Arcadia a high rated show last year or at least did well on Friday nights.

Did people get sick of it already, in it's secong year, or I wonder if this hourlong drama with some movie stars got to expensive.

I hope they don't cancel American Dreams. It's easily become one of my favorite shows. I wouldn't mind Jack & Bobby staying either... although the ratings for it are pretty bad.

Joan of Arcadia is down in the ratings 26% from last season. Most people seem to be thinking that it's depressing and a downer this season, while it was uplifting last year. So, accordingly, the ratings have dropped off alarmingly.

Considering it's CBS' lowest-rated network show at this point, cancellation wouldn't surprise me.

That list is horrible. I don't see Joan of Arcadia getting axed, despite ratings declining. Same for Arrested Development. Joan was nominated for a few awards, and Arrested won Best Comedy. Even with a new entertainment president, I say Arrested is staying, but hopefully in a new slot on a new night. If it sinks then, bye bye. American Dreams is more of a 5 than a 2. Jack and Bobby 1?! That's also a definite 5. And Less Than Perfect 5?! I still think ABC will stick with it.

I think it's the best new show of the season and among the best shows this entire season and it would make me extremely delighted to hear of its return, but it's head is already at the chopping block just waiting for the ax to come down!

As I have only seen a full episode of the first show and then parts of others shows.

I am wondering if they made a mistaking on the first show. I think all of this was on the first show.

- One they told that Bobby was going to be the President - would Jack have been the better choice or even better say nothing and keep people guessing.

- Also was it a good idea to say that Jack dies - again say nothing.

I just think, even when I saw the first episode - they made a mistake by picking Bobby and not Jack.

ABC may actually keep LTP purely because they dont have any higher quality sitcoms in the pipe - furthermore there was some article about how if they drop it it may put off one of their biggest prod companies; like if they drop Alias they may lose JJ Abrams

Well, if they keep TGIFridays intact completely, I can't see why they would risk it, especially with Tuesday also sinking (excluding According to Jim). But, a possible move would be to combine 8 Simple Rules and Hope and Faith (ABC's most successful Friday comedies), and add a new drama at 9pm on Friday. That's a very probable move, but if they keep four comedies on Friday, don't count out Less Than Perfect.

They should move According to Jim to Fridays.

Wow, I honestly had no idea Judging Amy was even under consideration for cancellation. Just goes to show that even with decent ratings, the 18-49 demo is crucial.

You'd think that Fox would at least want to keep one show that got some acclaim, even if it did faulter in the ratings...

And I like The Bernie Mac Show, too. And I know it has some devoted fans, so I'll be rooting for Jack & Bobby, too.

American Dreams ais great and apparantly it gets special treatment...which is good cause it deserves to stay on the air (even though I've barely watched this season). Arrested Development..same, too good to be cancelled and it's pretty much the only other show on Fox, other than AI, to get the network any attention.

The WB has stuck with Jack & Bobby so far and is likely to continue to do so. Plus it could be the first show on to get the WB into the Emmys in like.....a reallly long time?

The one I would disagree with is Less than Perfect. ABC doesn't have many hit comedies and with Jake in Progress not doing so well. Plus if anyone's beenw atching it (or any other TGIF comedy) they know all three comedies have VASTLY improved in terms of quality. I hope they stick with the schedule, maybe add a new comedy on Friday nights (instead of an 8 simple rules repeat).

That's what I'm thinking. It's often the lowest rated scripted show of the week when it's on, but I would be thrilled to see it return for a second season, especially considering the spoilers for the remaining episodes of this season. It's definitely not the ratings that's keeping it on the air but it's been like that for a majority of its run, so like the rest of you I agree it's the critical acclaim and the fact that it's got some potential for an emmy nomination with Christine Lahti as the star.

According to the article, Arrested Development is basically being saved from the Critics..

Joan of Arcadia is adored by CBS's current President...but such low ratings could really effect it....

Jack and Bobby is also a critical darling...and according to WB, they think it could pick up steam like One Tree Hill did.

Less then Perfect has laid in the middle for a while, and hasn't had GREAT ratings. So an AXE is likely to happen, and I'll give it 2 seasons, tops. Another reason for the 5 axes is because Sarah Rue wants to do other projects...so.....it seems Sarah Rue wants to be MORE then perfect...hehehe..im so clever.

As this got buried yesterday - wonder what the Jack and Bobby fans think on this.

My wife watches a lot of shitty television (7th Heaven, Everwood). One of her favortites was Joan of Arcadia. But as of around episode 5 or so of this season, she has completely abandoned it. For a DIEHARD fan, that's pretty revealing. I've never sat down and watched the show but according to her, they made some pretty big depatures storyline wise.

I'm concerned about Deadwood and Carnivale not being picked up yet for season 3 but HBO is running out of programming (who knows if Rome will work out or not).

I'm sure they will both return.

Answering Wdw, I think "Listen Up" has a better chance of renewal because of Raymond's departure this season. Same with ABC, CBS needs to be stable next year in the comedy department, but if any comedy gets the axe on CBS, it will be Listen Up. It's all a matter of if CBS will feel safe enough without the Jason Alexander comedy.

I, too, was disappointed by that twitch in the storyline....
But as the season pressed on, they do develop these characters pretty well and you'll see that bobby is the better candidate for the Presidency while Jack's storylines now are more interesting. But I think the true star and somwhat stressed focus of the show has started to be Christine Lahti, which some critics said was a misstep, but I don't. Frankly, her storyline is more interesting than any of JAck's and Bobby's combined in an episode of the last 2 months.

Excellent writing, despite what some critics and other have to say. I believe it's sharp and very effective.

Is Bobby the older kid or the younger one?
