 Thor: The Dark World
Thor: The Dark World Quote: Thor: The Dark World is a 2013 American superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Thor, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is the second Thor film following 2011's Thor and the eighth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film was directed by Alan Taylor, with a screenplay by Christopher Yost, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, and features Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Tadanobu Asano, Jaimie Alexander, Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins reprising their roles from the first, with newcomers Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Zachary Levi and Clive Russell joining the cast.
Development of Thor: The Dark World began in April 2011, when producer Kevin Feige announced plans for a sequel to follow the crossover film Marvel's The Avengers. In July 2011, Kenneth Branagh, the director of Thor, withdrew from the project. Brian Kirk and Patty Jenkins were considered to direct the film before Taylor was hired in January 2012. The supporting cast filled out in August 2012, with the hiring of Eccleston, Dennings and Akinnuoye-Agbaje. Principal photography began in September 2012 in Surrey, England with filming continuing in Iceland and London, before wrapping up in December 2012. Thor: The Dark World was converted to 3D in post-production.
Thor: The Dark World premiered at the Odeon Leicester Square in London on October 22, 2013. It was internationally released on October 30, 2013, and is scheduled to be released on November 8, 2013, in the United States.

 Re: Thor: The Dark World
First I have to say that I was deadly tired while watching this and dozed off a couple of times in the first half. I did like it a lot, but (as far as I can tell so far) not as much as the first one. It was much more geeky than I expected. The visuals were great and I loved every scene Hiddleston was part of. Kat Dennings annoyed me and Hemsworth was rock-solid once again as Thor.

I didn't nod off at all, but my attention wasn't fully on the film as I was also concentrating on staying awake. When watching The Lone Ranger, though, I nodded off for large portions of the movie. Didn't miss much. Just another silly Summer blockbuster.

Be glad it was just during Lone Ranger. But yeah, it's a really sucky way to watch a movie that way.

 Re: Thor: The Dark World
Is there a Benicio Del Toro/Thanos post-credits scene?
And if so, what did you think of it?

 Re: Thor: The Dark World
Yes, it's the first post-credits scene. I thought it sucked, Del Toro looked like a joke. But I did like the very last post-credits scene. It's not very important to the marvel-universe but it's a nice scene to end the movie.

The downside to me seeing all the films before their release is that the press screenings are early in the morning. I am not etting used to seeing films at 10 am, but it is rarely that I can get more than 5-6 hours of sleep the night before...

Is it worth it to see it in 3d?

No, just standard 3D I thought. Nothing that blew me away.

 Re: Thor: The Dark World
Thor 2 is good. Very fun, but maybe not as much as the first one. Both post-end scenes are completely worthless. The second one especially. KC wrote: Is it worth it to see it in 3d? No. It's a very flat experience (again). I don't know why they don't film these movies in 3D. They're going to earn shitload anyway and they should give people at least some satisfaction.

 Re: Thor: The Dark World
The second one is useless, but amusing. The first one just doesn't look good. Del Toro looks totally weird. Mugatu from Zoolander, I'm telling ya.
Director Alan Taylor himself expressed a sort of regret about that mid-credits scene and said he was happy that he was not the one to shoot it.

 Re: Thor: The Dark World
Just got back from Thor: The Dark World.
The Good: Special effects. Loki. Thor. The flip-flopping between realms.
The Bad: All the humans. Selvig, Jane, Darcy. They all irritated me.
As with the previous movie, the humans I didn't like, the story and fantasy part I did. The problem here is that Kat Dennings and Selvig get WAY too much screen time, so I give the edge to the first Thor.
B (still enjoyable and worth seeing on the big screen, but 3D is not necessary. Actually I think the 3D in the first film was better.)

 Re: Thor: The Dark World
Definitely the weakest MCU film. Though the action sequence at the end is genuinely inspired.
