Read about it, sounds very interesting.

Wolf of Wall Street has a KANYE SONG in it's trailer.

It's winning.

Okay maybe it is because I'm a huge No Country fan-but I am rooting for The Counselor.

Unless August blows it out of the water, I think Harvey is going to push Mandela and Fruitvale much more.

As of now, though, August: Osage County is obviously the big one among his Oscar crop.

It's screening today, so we'll have a better idea in a few hours of where August stands.

Eh I guess I have never thought of August being a big Oscar player outside of potential noms for Streep and Roberts and a slight chance at a Picture nom.

Reaction for August: Osage County after its Toronto premiere seems solid but not out of this world. Looks like it may be another Doubt: heavily praised acting but not necessarily a big contender otherwise.

What are they saying about Streep and Roberts? Will it give Streep yet another nom?

Streep is getting a lot of praise as expected. Have seen good word for Roberts but nothing extensive yet. This is going off tweets from the premiere, not actual reviews yet.

I just read on Broadway World that they are thinking of changing the ending to give it a more uplifting happy ending... I will be seriously annoyed. Anyway, I doubt it will be nominated for Picture but a nomination for Streep and Roberts is assured, IMO.

Changing the ending would be a bad buzz sign for this, and its not getting as much attention as I would have expected at TIFF. Gravity and TYAS seem to be the winners at TIFF so far buzz wise.

The Wind Rises got good reactions from TIFF. Being Miyazaki's last film and given the quality of animated features this year, it's establishing itself as a strong contender for best animated film.

The first rotten review for 12 Years a Slave comes from, not surprisingly, Slant.

Where Do We Go Now? is such a weird winner, eh?

Anyway, this win just confirms what we all knew.

Post Re: 2013 Contenders Discussion
So yes, 12 Years A Slave does live up to the hype.

This really is the frontrunner and the buzz is completely merited. But I think the most buzz will probably be going in the best acting category even over best picture. I can't see any scenario where this could win best picture and somehow doesn't get best actor.

Best actor is a close to an absolute lock though you never know at the Oscars. Chiwetel Ejiofor carries the movie and gives one of the most powerful performances I've seen.

This is Chiwetel's movie, backed by the strong performance by Lupita Nyong. In his scenes with Brad Pitt, you almost forget that Brad Pitt is on screen because Chiwetel is so good.

This is a very hard movie to watch though. It is emotional and powerful but will that be enough to win best picture?

Answer: Yes. The audience broke into applause three times before the movie was even over. I went to previous TIFF people's choice winner's screenings and the buzz on this was at another level. The audience was mesmerized.

I have a hard time not seeing this best picture right now.

I wonder if Prisoners will end up receiving any nominations.

This clearly needs to be updated. I'd think they'd try to push About Time for something as well.
