Post Spider problem
Last nght, I saw a spider, half the size of my hand on the wall in my living room. Of this variety:

Image

I am a little bit of an arachnophobiac. I have little issue with the smaller ones, but that one above makes me want to never enter the living room again. Please don't lecture me how useful spiders are. I know that, but that doesn't help my fear and disgust of Spiderzillas like the one above. I wanted to get rid of it (lethally, but the thing was so fat that when I approached it, it couldn't hold its weight anymore and dropped from the wall to the floor and escaped somewhere.

Thatw as yesterday. Despite an extensive search in the living room, I couldn't find it today. Knowing that this thing lives in here with me, gives me major creeps. I don't have a cat either to solve this problem...

Anyone has any ideas?!

Move

They say you swallow 8 spiders while you sleep over the course of your life. I think I'd not want to live if that was one of them.

This spider is technically harmless. He's just huge, terrifying and ugly as hell. Each summer, about two or three of those end up at my place. Most don't make it out alive. However this year's speciman is particularly large. I keep the door to my living room sealed off (seriously) at the moment.

Didn't sleep well last night because all the time I was dreaming about this spider crawling on the wall next to my bed and at times, I was not sure whether it was a dream or not.

Let it bite you, and maybe it will turn you into Spiderman? But seriously, I hate I all bugs as crawling creatures bother me. And some if they bite you, infect your body. I know a guy whose doctor said a skin abyss sp that grew under the skin? Was caused by some kind of bug bite. Gross Gross Gross

Better that than a rat.
I don't mind spiders, they really don't like being near people even while you are asleep, trust me, he will stay out of your way, but if you really have a phobia then call an exterminator.

Cats eat spiders?

I killed such a big one a few weeks ago.
Spiders are an evidence for me that something like a hell does exist.

Call an exterminator. Not sure there's really a better solution here.

I've only ever seen cats play with spiders. They paw at them for a few minutes until they lose interest.

But my shoe never loses interest. It kills very well. :D

No sighting of the spider yet, though I still keep my visits to the living room to a minimum.

UGH if there was a tarantula looking thing loose somewhere in my house I would freak the hell out and probably get 0 sleep. I had a hard enough time dealing with a mysterious disappearing mouse.

Well, luckilly it is not a tarantula and technically completely harmless to humans.I also console myself by thinking that it has all it needs i the living room and would thus not venture into my bedroom at night. I still seal off the living room door (and I mean it, I make sure there are no cracks to slip through under the dooR9:

You don't have a spider problem, you have a hygiene problem.

Spiders are predators who help humans by eating all the other smaller pests that infest our houses, so if there are enough insects in your house to support spiders that large, then you need to seriously reevaluate your cleaning regimen.

Sherlock is right, you know.

Lives thousands of miles away but can still spot a dirty sod! :funny:

No, I have a problem of living in aground floor apartment (actually even slightly below ground floor level) with windows open to the side of the garden. Which means that during the summer insects and spiders flock to my place.
