 Re: Lovelace
My biggest problem with this movie was that it was too short. It needed to be probably a half hour longer and the fact that it's known there is footage on the cutting room floor is quite bothersome. It rushes through major events like they are nothing more often than not and the huge ensemble cast is mostly relegated to blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameos (Chloe Sevigny is in it for maybe 30 seconds, and James Franco maybe 2 minutes). But it's still a very good film thanks to the performances. Both Amanda Seyfried and Peter Sarsgaard are fantastic. Sarsgaard in particular is incredibly terrifying. B+

LOVELACE
I thought this was a decent biopic. Don't know if we really needed it in this form. It probably would have been better as a straight documentary. Idk if there already is one. I thought Seyfried gave a good performance here and I'm not normally a big fan of hers. She does have a wonderful pair too. I've never seen the original film that they were faux filming for this movie, but the original must be completely laughable today. It was sad to know she only got 1250 for that film that has made millions upon millions. Also, this felt like it probably would have been better on HBO. It was like a tv movie for me. Overall, I did find the film to be interesting as I knew nothing about this lady and her extremely brief porn past.
Grade - B

 Re: Lovelace
The movie plays as if you've never heard of her before, and maybe if you haven't the movie might work for you, but I have and it didn't. The edit ploy that's done about halfway through doesn't work at all. Who wasn't it obvious to that she was being abused? And then there is the odd fact that the movie denounces porn, yet doesn't have a problem capitalizing on Amanda Seyfried's nudity, which I'm guessing was a big reason most people will even know this movie exists let alone watch it. And I wouldn't have a problem if it denounced porn if it was at least thirty minutes longer like Thompsoncory said. The movie pays so much attention to the making of Deep Throat, but only has one (horribly CGI'd scene) of her as an activist? What's a shame is that the performances are there. Sharon Sone isn't even awful. The script and the editing is a big letdown though. ** (C)

 Re: Lovelace
More scenes were shot with her as an activist that didn't make the final cut. Sarah Jessica Parker filmed an entire role (that was originally cast with Demi Moore, who dropped out right before filming) that is nowhere to be seen.
