Re: Intl. Box-Office: Man of Steel #1 again
Hangover Part III did poorly in Mexico ($1.5M). It was shown exclusively on just 2 theater chains, Cinemark and Cinemex. None of those two is the largest and most dominant chain the country and in Latin America. Apparently this was because of commercial disagreements between the distributor and the movie chain. I dont know if it affected other countries too.

Re: Intl. Box-Office: Man of Steel #1 again
It is weird seeing an X-Men movie doing better OS than in the U.S. Wolverine has a shot of making 400 Os, although probably will miss out because of its performance here.

It looks like it'll get 135 million in the states. 210 with Holdovers with Japan and China to go, I think they'll be enough to push it over 400 WW.

Obviously China and Japan are wildcards here. I think it could go as low as $380 million and as high as $450 million worldwide. Either way, it is doing very well.

Re: Intl. Box-Office: Man of Steel #1 again
Didn't realize it still had Japan and China left. Yeah I think it has a great chance at 400 million. Should do at least 3rd best of the franchise and could pass X2 for second best. It does bode well for DOFP os.

Wolverine will do $250m OS whether it actually crosses $265m-$275m OS or not will depend on how big its does in China. $375m WW is a lock it needs to do big numbers in China to cross $400m WW.

No silly it has been released in almost 70% of its markets now with China and Japan being the biggest markets it has yet to see a release. Japan won't give it big numbers, not to the level of China.

Re: Intl. Box-Office: Man of Steel #1 again
Absolutely the first 3 Resident Evil films made 17/23/24. Then the fourth had a little bit of setting in Japan and made 55 million. The X-men films have never made more than 13 million in Japan. This one should see at least 25-30 million.

The Wolverine - $194,700,000 with Japan and China still ahead. I think $300 million is quite possible.

pepe pippen wrote: OS?No way! Why not? It made $18 million overseas this weekend. Let's say that just from its current markets, it can get to $220 million. It is not impossible for it to make $80 million from China and Japan.

Re: Intl. Box-Office: Man of Steel #1 again
I think it can. It should do great in those two markets. It could do 400 million WW since it only needs around 280 to do that. It should end up being the second highest grossing X-Men film and really bodes well for DOFP.

I haven't checked, if it has a release scheduled for China. Algren? Xiayun?
Either way, yes, it bodes very well for Days of Future Past. Anything less than $400 million overseas would surprise me for that.

Re: Intl. Box-Office: Man of Steel #1 again
Because the first one made only about $200m. Wolverine is as high profile as it gets, he is the most recognizable and beloved X-Man.

Re: Intl. Box-Office: Man of Steel #1 again
Hmm, you know, Now You See Me is now actually a contender at $300+ million worldwide.
It made $13.3 million this weekend and stands at $140 million overseas. It still has Japan ahead and could make $280 million worldwide without Japan. If it breaks out a little there (or actually gets a China release), $300+ million is happening. Which is quite big.

Wolverine is frontloaded as expected from X-Men franchise. It is still doing quite good and should reach a minimum of $275m OS.

DOFP also has giant robots, and the return of most of the original cast. It should be a big film and the release date doesn't hurt.
