Re: Star Wars VII-IX > Avatar 2-4 Club
Phantom Menace couldn't even crack $600 mil OS.
You. Are. Insane.
There is a 0% chance this cracks $2 bil OS. And only a 50% chance this cracks $1 bil OS.

Why on EARTH would this increase 100% over ROTS?
That makes NO sense.

That makes NO sense. If only 30% of the 59 million people that saw made ROTS see it in 3D, it would be at 710 million. Add in the most hyped film of all time most likely, 760 million is more on the possible side of predictions.

Re: Star Wars VII-IX > Avatar 2-4 Club
I would venture to say that Star Wars 7 is the stand-alone most anticipated film of all time. It's potential existence has been hinted at and built up to for like 30 years now.

In a way yes. Phantom Menace has so far been the most anticipated of all time - but we are talking sequel vs prequel so it may very well be the most anticipated - unless the prequels dampened the demand.

Re: Star Wars VII-IX > Avatar 2-4 Club
I'll join Team Force. As big a fan as I am of Avatar, I think it's success was a perfect storm of things coming together. I don't think the sequel will be as successful domestically. Star Wars just has a massive audience to tap into. Nearly all the fans of the original trilogy will come to this even if they didn't like the prequels. Plus, the prequels added a huge younger family audience that will come out too. It's going to be huge.
It'll be interesting who they cast as the younger force users. I read this snippet from an article somewhere...
"Just a few weeks ago a casting breakdown was released that revealed that the project was searching for young actors. The announcement identified seven key roles, including a young man in his early-to-mid 20s, two young females who both have to be physically fit and an older man in his 70s."
Two physically fit young females, a young man low-mid 20's, and a man in his 70's. Who would you cast in those roles?

Re: Star Wars VII-IX > Avatar 2-4 Club
Noo!!! Unless there is another convincing means of increasing the ticket prices like 3D. I don't think people will be interested to pay increased ticket price so very soon. $300m OW is not happening in 2019, even if you take the 5 year rule then $300m will happen only in 2022.

Domestically? In.
We don't have official release dates for Episode VIII or IX. It's assumed they'll come out in December. The Mouse House is likely trying to gauge where Cameron is with his sequels (also aiming for December release dates).

Re: Star Wars VII-IX > Avatar 2-4 Club
Why would SW sequels increase nearly double from some of the previous movies? I can already see WWW threads when Ep. VII opens to somethibg like $150-180m and people start hitting the panic button. Jeez.
