 Miss Congeniality
Miss Congeniality Quote: Miss Congeniality is a 2000 American police comedy film directed by Donald Petrie, written by Marc Lawrence, Katie Ford, and Caryn Lucas, and starring Sandra Bullock, Michael Caine, Benjamin Bratt, and Candice Bergen. Surprisingly entertaining. I enjoyed it more than I could have imagined. B

It was good. Sandra is a funny actress, but some of the scenes weren't that great. On the other hand, some where laugh-out-loud funny, so it gets a B+.

One of my favorite movies to watch. It's not technically great, but I always have a blast watching it.
For that reason, I won't give it a grade. It would feel weird to reward it with an A, but I always have too much fun watching it to give it a low grade.

It's been a while, but I remember thinking it was good, but nothing stellar.

I was surprised how much I liked this movie when I saw it. Bullock is very funny and Michael Caine and Candace Bergen both almost steal the movie in supporting roles. I'm actually looking forward to the sequel. I rate it a B+.

Hilarious movie, with amazing rewatch value. I think the sequel looks terrible, but what would you expect?
8/10 (B+)

Miss Congeniality is not exactly the most stunning film experience one could ever have, but it's quite entertaining, and there aren't any dull moments that made me look at the clock. It's a very funny movie in places, and I thought Sandra's *snorting* laugh was adorable. Sandra Bullock plays FBI agent Gracie Hart, who infiltrates a beauty pageant...err...a scholarship program...to thwart a plot to set of a bomb at the event. Gracie is very unrefined, poor manners, nappy hair, poor sense of style, etc... , so she has a long way to go before she can even pass for credible on the surface. The hosts of the show , played by Boston Legal's William Shatner and Candice Bergen, are very reluctant to allow Gracie in as a contestant, but they do agree, and call in a specialist, played by Michael Caine, to file down her rough edges, and damn, when Sandra makes her appearance for the first time after he's finished stage one of her refinement, dressed in that hugging tight blue dress...purrrrrrrr.
There are lots of laughs throughout the movie, as Sandra shows that she is very skilled at comedy, and , of course, William Shatner is just a big ham wearing a pair of shoes. He doesn't even have to speak, and he's still funny, but when he does say something....... even when it's not intentional. Candice Bergen was also good as Kathy Morningstar, the former "scholarship" winner who has been running the event for the past 25 years. To Sandra's credit, I totally bought her as a real contender in a beauty contest , and I also bought her early on as somebody who would never in a million years be considered in one. Very enjoyable movie!

Yes, you did! I was feeling very daring at the video store, and also had Legally Blonde in my hands (haven't seen that either) , but I chickened out at the last second and just rented Miss Congeniality this time.

Legally Blonde is better than Miss Congeniality. As a guy, I can safely say that Check it out, Mav, you'll like it.

I'll be a chick flick fanboy in no time, huh?
Well, as long as it softens my attitude up a little, I can live with it.

Well, the sequel did pretty decent at the box office, so at least some people probably found it enjoyable.

I actually liked Legally Blonde more than Miss Congeniality. Go back to the video store.
As xiayun and Zingy said, *do not* rent Legally Blonde 2. It is a wretched excuse for a motion picture, and all copies of it should be destroyed.

No. It just cashed in on the popularity of the original.

Mav, rent Love Actually. Trust me on this one. One of the best romcoms I have ever seen.

Heartbreakers, Bridget Jones's Diary, Love Actually, Simone.
If you haven't seen them: Mean Girls, Clueless.

Ok, torrino recommends Say Anything, and Lecter recommends Love Actually as well, so I'll make a point to see every movie there ( Legally Blonde too ) within the next 2 weeks, I just hope they don't start affecting the way I dress. :yikes:
I have seen Clueless , and I just LOVE Alicia Silverstone. I'm surprised she never exploded in the romcom genre after that.

Actually, Simone is probably the one movie I recommended that's not necessarily a chick flick. The problem with that movie was that almost *no one* saw it. I believe its domestic gross was something like $10M in 2002.
