I agree with that. Though if she was white, she still probably takes taken more seriously. But the class thing was the bigger issue. She was incoherent. Numerous times I asked my wife what she meant, and she had no idea as well. On Piers Morgan: Quote: MORGAN: People -- a lot of people just -- like that juror, didn't believe you for whatever reason. Are you an honest person by nature?
JEANTEL: Yes, well, now I'd be lying by saying that. But by law, yes. http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/ ... mt.01.htmlRJ's response was really drawn out like 20 seconds or so, there should be two or three gaps in the transcript where she was thinking about how to respond. She may have just been flustered by the question trying to articulate something she was incapable of stating clearly, but she came across as trying to be deceptive by confusion. I don't disagree that class and race were issues, but people are sweeping under the rug how she was a terrible witness no matter what other factors were present.

 Re: Zimmerman Trial
Martin was 17 and a street fighter with a history of marijuana use who was buying candy for a friend. Was he employed? Where was he getting his travelling money?

The victim's parents could still file a civil suit right?

 Re: Zimmerman Trial
Based on the law in that State it won't be an easy case and I think Stand Your Ground would be used to excuse Zimmerman of charges and plus Zimmerman is not really rich.

 Re: Zimmerman Trial
I'm only asking. Though I'm guessing Trayvon on dope wouldn't want to go home and call 9-1-1 about that stranger following him either. I think Pot is 5 years in Florida. Talking to cops could be a mess if that's the way it happened. I don't know that though.
So, was he employed? Or was he just partying in the evening rain? And when Zimmerman asked him, "What are you doing here?", then why didn't Martin just say something like, "Hi neighbor. I'm staying at the house down the street."?

 Re: Zimmerman Trial
What part of "not guilty" do people miss? Nobody is saying he is innocent. For as easy as it is to see why he was found not guilty of MURDER, I have no idea how he was found not guilty of manslaughter. Need that one explained.
The fact that Plax gets 2 years for shooting himself, Lauryn Hill is in jail for TAXES, etc...says A LOT though. Zimmerman clearly broke some laws even if he did not commit murder.

 Re: Zimmerman Trial
Re: Magnus Quote: The biggest question we don't know is whether Zimmerman was justified in fearing for his life. I do not doubt that he did fear for his life but was this fear reasonable? Zimmerman feared for his life because Trayvon was black. What this trial means is that it's legal to murder a black person because you're afraid they will hurt you simply because they are black, which is something that has been happening for decades and decades. Every 28 hours a black male is murdered by police or vigilantes like Zimmerman and their killer is acquitted because they claim self-defense. Even reaching into your pocket is enough to justify shooting someone dead if they are black.

If he were white Zimmerman would never have stopped him or found him suspicious. You and your racist posts are exactly the kind of thought process the jury went through. And I am still AMAZED there were no black people on that jury.

 Re: Zimmerman Trial
So why take the defensive attitude against Zimmerman? Why not cooperate and allow Zimmerman to hang himself? And what was the problem with Martin calling 9-1-1?

 Re: Zimmerman Trial
When people mention the race of the jurors in such a way as to indicate it compromised the trial, I regard the comment as purely racist (against white people) and just as grotesque as saying the n word in anger and spite.

 Re: Zimmerman Trial
It most strongly occurred to me when Piers Morgan interviewed Rachel Jeantel. When the jury is mentioned, she says, 'Let's face it...they white!' As if to say white people cannot engage with the law and with human decency in a clear, focused, and intelligent way, but can only see the fact George Zimmerman shot a black man and acquit him the way Pavlov's dogs must drool upon hearing a ringing bell.
It is pure and foul racism.

 Re: Zimmerman Trial
^^^ No that is so hypocritical and stupid of a black person to say I wish there was a like function to like David post...
Many people in the community like to just lay back and pretend the whole world is against them and play them victim while others in thier own community march ahead and excel.
"You and your racist posts are exactly the kind of thought process the jury went through. And I am still AMAZED there were no black people on that jury."
Why would there be a black person on a jury when there are only 6 jurors in a town that is 90% white?
Your telling me if there was an all black jury and they found Zimmerman guilty race had no basis then?
Just give it a rest guys.
This case is a piss off it has set back race relations for years imo...

Of course a black jury would have found him guilty.

Chippy wrote: Of course a black jury would have found him guilty. Therefore Jantel's comments we can excuse as it was her friend. However comments by the black community at large like that are just hypocritical. It reminds me of the Dave Chappelle skit about the Oj Simpson trial, or R Kelly Trial... what would it take to convince Black people they are guilty...
