 Re: Friday Numbers That would be the biggest opening day ever for Sandler. I'm not so sure it will be that frontloaded IM wise, I wouldn't consider it the typical sequel weekend kind of film.

This summer just seems more youth-aimed than just about any summer in recent memory. Not that the studios are suffering or anything, but I'm sure something that aimed for the "Over 25" spectrum would've thrived, especially since November/December/January ends up being so crowded. Something like Wolf of Wall St. probably could've cleaned up with a July/August release, assuming it's good.

In other words - several films actually skewed older. The modern, action- and SFX-oriented blockbuster era started 35 years ago. A lot of the people who as kids and teens loved Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Ghostbusters, Terminator, Die Hard, etc, are now in their 40's and 50's. The current event movies are still more or less built on the same mold. Which explains why such a big part of the audience skews older.

I feel like this has been a very older skewing summer of many years, even if there isn't one specific film directly targeting that (Red 2 an Gatsby are big though)

A big bulk of the action and SFX-driven movies of today *are* adult-driven movies. It's a dated idea that such movies would appeal mainly to sub-25 crowd.
