HUGE FORUM CHANGE --- PLEASE READ
Yar.
So I was working on the re-desing of the site, got stuck (as I often do) and none of my designer friends were available to help ... so I was looking at ways to upgrade the forum, yet again.
I decided a change was needed for a few reasons.
1) I hate the index. The menu to the side is horrid. And there are really no special usability features. There are problems all around, and I need to fix them.
2) This way will allow for a whole new front page to the forum. It will be different, nothing like what your used to, and you will like it, alot. I promise.
We will be going back to the Morpheus Style
Some things that may or may not be gone:
There may no longer be "baba lover and fantasizer" or in other words ... ranks. In it's place will be 5 small dots, which will fill up based on you reaching post benchmarks.
Alot of the link's that used to be along the top will now be in a menu on the side, this menu will be on all the index's. There will also be a calander, it will show upcoming events. Movie Awards ... things of that nature.
The current chat room will be gone. I will inally be getting a chat room that is operable on the forum, and that is better than any of the ones I have had before, much better. You will need the same software required to run the current one ... meaning updated Jave ... the same software needed to enter a Yahoo Chatroom.
There are more changes, most associated with the style switch back to Morpheus ... so the Look is slightly different ... quick reply will still be there.
Overall it will be a much cleaner looking forum. That may not make sense now, but you will understand soon.
I am adding a poll on the ignore feature. I personally am undecided on it, alot of people say they won't use it, so do you wan't it to stay? It is really up to you guys, I can install it rather easily if you want.
pictures are from a site using a very similar format.

I am for the Ignore Feature.
Why should it go? It doesn't hurt anyone...
Also, why would the ranks go?

Eagle, why don't you simply post a screenshot of what you are describing?

Is there a way for the new chatroom to have voice capabilities so we can talk to eachother?
The ignore feature doesn't bother me, I just don't use it. One problem that I have noticed, is immaturity on the part of one person who knows he's being ignored, resulting in posting several times in a thread, sometimes back to back, and that makes it look like spam. I can ignore all by myself if I really want to , and as long as I'm not being personally attacked.
I like the ranks, but those dots would probably serve as good posting incentives.
I'll be glad to see the current sidebars go in favor of what you described.
I'd still love to see the title of the last post replied to displayed on the index page.

I'm ignoring the ignore feature. (okay that was a bad pun)
but I don't use it, I guess I can see the use of it, but problem is that some people may eventully abuse this use of it.

I like the ignore feature. Though I'm not using it on anyone (because I'm a mod), it's useful to those few who have problems with others. I haven't seen too much fighting over the past two days, so it must be working a bit? Hopefully. Once everyone gets over the "I have _______ on my ignore list!" stuff, I think it'll be a nice feature to have. I voted yes.
I like this style. I don't want morpheus again.

My only thing is that I don't think it should be on mods, since people are likley to use it to ignore what the mods are saying.

I don't think anyone is ignoring the mods, and if they are, I don't really care. It'll be them that have to pay when we give them a warning or tell them to do something (or stop something) in a thread, and they don't listen.

All the changes sound superb, but on the ignore feature... I think that it will probably be in the majority's interest to keep it, but my main problem is that it takes away from the jobs of the admins and moderators on this site. It's their job to keep people in check, and if they can't... well, I hit quick reply, and don't know the emoticon off-hand for the "Banned" one, but you get it. But, then again, Double accounts can come into play, and the problem is never solved. So... I actually was against it before I wrote that, but with problems like double accounts, it probably isn't a bad idea.
Stupid me... just ignore that (haha, beat that bad pun). Keep the ignore, it helps for some, but I won't use it.

I actually don't like the ignore button. I don't understand the point of it. What not just address the issues with those posters. What a novel idea.
Arsi saw what happened in the "Build a Six Pack" thread and took action.
An ignore button is a very lazy way for this site to address issues.
And I agree on the spam effect that Mav mentioned.

to me, the ignore function is not installed so people who dont like each other to stay away from each other. Its just for those people who generally just annoy you, not to solve a problem where a poster is being an ass. I said that earlier as well. As admin, i can't sue the feature but lets say this certain poster named Mariah was on WoKJ (instead of RT) and i wasn't mod .. i'd use it right away. Shes just freaking annoying .. no more ... i just dont like listening to her yet she doesn't do anything that a mod would have to come in and warn about.
I still haven't handled that issue loyal spoke off completely. I will once i get back to montreal.

ummm no. She stopped being funny a long time ago. And those pics of hers .... they were funny once ..... she just keeps using the same pics again and again that dont even make sense anymore. When it comes to batman, she stopped being funny about 4 months ago.

It looks like people are overwhelmingly against an ignore feature, including me.
Other than reasons addressed by Loyal, it's really pointless. If you don't like a poster, it doesn't take anything more than a few more scrollings down the page to not look at his stuff.

I think that the ignore feature is good. I hope no one takes offence to this, but i sometimes sense that people at times are looking for a fight at this forum, not in a bad way, but in a like family way. People know eachother pretty well here, and sometimes like to push eachother's buttons. With the ignore feature this most likely wont be an issue, you cant push for a fight if you have the option to ignore.
Just my impressions... I've been told i'm a bad judge of things, so take it with a grain of salt

The site design looks exactly like naturalflux7. Which isn't bad....I like that design.
Would the chat room still be able to be accessed via an IRC program, like mIRC or BitchX?
And I say we keep the ignore. I'm all for people actually confronting people with whom they have issues, but some cases are beyond repair ::cough Artur cough::. So, in those cases, I'm thankful that nothing may come out of a misunderstood comment.
