Why do they have to explain how the city got rebuilt?

I don't understand why people have a problem with that. Time passed, the city got rebuilt.

Avengers would have you believe the same day they all embraced at a Mexican restaurant later in the day, all shook hands and parted ways, leaving society to clean up the mess.

At least Batman left the party before the bill was passed around. You could say "That mother fucker charged $9000 on our $100 tab, What do you mean he was poor and died?"

Again you don't need to see construction to see that months have passed, it's call accepting a plot point. No one needs Superman sweeping up shit.

As for the humor, I don't think anything in the Batman films was as good as the trucker scene here. It was a great joke, and I agree if the rest of the film had some fun with the character it'd probably be at 95% tomatoes. I think a lot of the humor is subtle ala Casino Royale, and a hair higher than BB and TDKR. TDK wasn't really fun at all. Most of the humor came laughing at Ledger's creepiness.

The majority of TDK jokes were more awkward than anything else. Trucker scene is great, "he is kinda hot" quite funny...but that is it. The themes really have no pay off. That is my "issue".

Lois is not forced whatsoever, btw. Don't get that criticism.

For some reason all 3 times I saw it one of the biggest laughs from the audience was Lois's "well here it's an S".

What? The only scene with any actual back and fourth, their chat in the interrogation room, is very good. The chemistry between them is quite clear, they just need more time. AA and HC's chemistry is clear in pretty much every shot of them. This isn't Christian Bale and katie Holmes.

I also hate this whole "this isn't the Superman I know" thing. THAT'S THE FUCKING POINT! The film could and should of handled its destruction and mayhem better but I don't think that means it needed to turn its Superman to this boy scout. I loved that this Superman had rage and anger in him. It just needed to be shown better.

This is quite true. It seems many of the folks who enjoyed the film most are the ones who would say things like "SUPERMAN is boring" blah blah blah. WB have made an imperfect but too awesome to ignore film.

Did I miss the '20 minutes later' sign? I think the epilogue is set several months after the fight.

Several months? That's not nearly enough.

How long did it take for them to rebuild the Twin Towers? Years, and they still haven't done it.

It's not a big deal for me, because the rest of the movie is extremely good, it's just an observation.

It can't be a big deal because you don't know how long it took. Also, they had Superman to help them rebuild the city/world.

Superman did not rebuild the city/world, because if he did, then Metropolis would know who he is when he plays Clark Kent the Reporter in the sequel. This is a more realistic version of Superman, so you can't just expect them not to know who he is because of some specs.

Nobody in the real world saw him apart from Lois Lane and she's obviously keeping her secret. All other people that saw him are either dead or high military.

Outside of the Joker, the humor in the Nolan Batman movies is bad. The Tumbler will race by, and a beat cop will say, "I GOT TO GET ME ONE OF THOSE!" This type of shit.

The best laugh in the Nolan Batman movies is Cillian Murphy's cameo in the third one, when Gordon insists on death instead of exile and is sentenced to "death...by exile." Good line. I enjoy the image in general of the kangaroo court overseen by the Scarecrow.

Then he did it by night or wearing a mask. There are a hundred ways to solve the problem. If you want to keep it (even as 'no big deal'), it is yours.

The Jokers ".....hiiiiiiiii" to Harvey in the hospital garnered more laughs at my theaters than any other film moment i recall, comedy or non comedy.

Or just about everything with Lucius Fox, which is awesome. Or whenever Bruce throws on his playboy face. The Dark Knight films certainly have some stupid "Hey! Cheap seats!" humor, but there's some really funny stuff in there.

There were several jokes like that in MOS which went right over peoples heads, sadly. Much of Lois's dialogue is in vein of Lucius Fox or Alfred's sarcasm.

There were attempts at humour in the movie, but it was very subtle. People did not notice it or were too engrossed in the epic action to care. Introducing comedy in this movie would not have worked, and I think Zack played it just right.

Lucius' first scene in TDKR is funnier than all of MOS.

You're quickly becoming an apologist, Excel. It's okay to admit some movies are better at some things.

Man of Steel may have been a mediocre sci-fi pic, but I will never comprehend all of this flak against the Superman's lack of a moral compass in this film. I hate to pull a Bradley, but I think people read far too much into what critics had to say on this picture and pre-conceived expectations. Most, if not all of the destruction of Metropolis was caused by the teraformer world maker thing. Not Superman. Zod WAS out to destroy the human race to recreate the Kryptonian race, Superman did stop world-wide genocide you know, I got no sense of their battle being a personal vendetta, especially after he showed much grief upon the battle's end (which upholds his boy scout image, albeit a corrupt boy scout).

Honestly, you all had me expecting an entirely different film.

Yeah, excel, why are you ripping on Batman to support Superman? They're both great. Nolan's trilogy is better for reasons other than corny one liners (which I always enjoyed).

Lecter's humour is actually pretty good. He's very universal in his humour, and he knows sarcasm very well (unlike Yanks, who just think they do).

I work with many Germans, and they are a funny bunch. But serious most of the time.
